The early era of White Wolf was a massive infusion of mostly very white liberal-progressiveness into gaming, a kind modern leftists find deeply flawed now.

But, I can't stress this enough, that was social progress in the hobby to a degree such that some people never recovered from the shock.

Both.

A quick sidenote about this; one reason I stay on X is specifically because of exchanges like this, where @davidjbier.bsky.social and I got a prominent government official to make a claim so outrageous that it’s now ricocheting around the internet and actively undermining official PR campaigns.
Bovino, the man overseeing mass deportations, publicly declared that we must all have our papers on us, at all times, or we could be stopped, harassed, kidnapped, and detained, as they did with the man in this case, who is a US citizen.

As a grant writer for environmental causes, I’ve seen first-hand how funding for the environment often takes a backseat to medical research and human services. This article helps demonstrate why this is a problem; the environment is a HUGE influence on public health and quality of life.

The fact is no presenter has ever had to leave the BBC for expressing conservative views, or even explicitly endorsing a right-wing party.

This. This was the formative event of my generation & our entire politics in 🇺🇸. The structural break after which we were no longer a full democracy, when 5 Wizards In Robes decided they were a super-legislature & counting all the actual votes didn’t matter. The rest has been 25 years of commentary.
25 years ago today, SCOTUS elected George W Bush president of the United States by blocking completion of a voting canvass in Florida. A subsequent canvass by the Associated Press showed that Bush's rival, Al Gore, had won the race in Florida—and thus the contest for the presidency—by 700 votes.

What the GOP never realized is that once you embrace conspiracy theories, there are no limits. You don't get to say "this unfalsifiable belief is valid and true, but yours isn't." They embraced unreality and this is the result.

Every time someone says "nah I don't like tactical RPGs," I *want* to say "yeah but maybe that's because you haven't played Draw Steel?!"

Because we've *seen* that happen!

But I keep my mouth shut. People don't want to hear that stuff from me. :D
Draw Steel is *so* much fun! I don’t normally enjoy games that require a grid for combat, but the combat rules actually made it engaging and meaningful—no misses, no wasted turns. The party dynamic seems really interesting, too. We’re definitely playing again!
Tonight's the night! My friends and I learn how to play Draw Steel! Can't wait to play a High Elf mix of Regina George and Azula.
