Is it a good thing when “job creators” aren’t paying their fair share, are exceptionally proud of profits, and STILL cutting jobs?

We don’t think so.
Republicans’ new tax law decreased Amazon's taxes 87%, while the corporate giant's profits grew.

The company’s U.S. taxes went $9 billion $1.2 billion.

Amazon is also in the process of cutting 30,000 jobs.

“Scholars found that upticks in immigration enforcement are associated with increased minimum wage violations and more dangerous workplaces for all workers.”
“When the workers who are stepping up to try and reveal violations are silenced, the standard comes down for the whole industry.”

@sarahlazare.bsky.social reports that attacks on immigrant workers threaten all workers’ ability to fight for better pay & conditions.

High profits and CEO/executive pay always comes at the literal expense of workers being exploited.

Living wages, proper benefits and staffing are all roadblocks they want to tear down to get their 8 and 9 figure salaries.
Corporate profits are at historic highs, while workers’ wages as a share of the economy are at historic lows.

Now bosses are pushing layoffs and AI replacements, even as they sit on record profits. That imbalance isn’t sustainable and working people know it.

Unions continue to be the rising tides lifting boats. Congrats to these workers!
The @uaw.org has won a tentative agreement from VW nearly two years after workers voted to unionize in Chattanooga.

Over 3,000 workers will get:

- A 20% raise
- Better healthcare
- A bonus of about $6,550 per worker upon ratification

And much more.

Big win for nurses in DC!

Hoping that @nynurses.bsky.social and UNAC/UHCP get contracts that make their workplaces safer and are built around their value to patients, not to executive payoffs.
🚨Worker win in DC: RNs at MedStar Washington Hospital Center just ratified a new contract with major gains for patient safety and nurse retention. 🎉

There's a saying in organizing that "every unionized worker carries an ununionized worker on their back." We're doing our part! 💪❤️
Last repost is a great example of why a union is statistically proven to raise conditions for everyone, whether they're in a union or not: because union members OFTEN vote to make their privileges & knowledge open to all.

It's union members who do that work, learn those skills, set that up for you!

The Washington-Baltimore News Guild strongly condemns the layoffs announced today at The Washington Post. These cuts represent yet another blow to a newsroom that has already been pushed to its limits and a disservice to the readers who rely on The Post for rigorous, independent journalism.

The rich use their funds to buy newsrooms as playthings, defang journalists doing important work, and use opinion columnists as their mouthpieces in the fourth estate.

Democracy isn’t dying in darkness, it is being sold to the highest bidders, including Bezos.
Truly hilarious headline from the Bezos-owned Washington Post yesterday.

Never, ever let the guys who control half the wealth in America and just got billions of dollars in tax breaks tell you we shouldn't tax the rich.
