So how do we fight back against the tech oligarchy, and is boycotting Amazon the answer? 🧵
The Washington Post just laid off about a third of its staff. Jeff Bezos bought the paper in 2013, and has recently blocked it from endorsing presidential candidates and directed the opinion pages to focus on covering “personal liberties and free markets.”

Big Tech surveillance is fueling ICE violence. Join our friends at @mediajustice.bsky.social for a discussion exposing how Flock and Amazon Ring are partnering with ICE to criminalize our communities: mediajustice.us19.list-manage.com/track/click?...
Welcome! You are invited to join a webinar: Flock Ring and the MF'n PolICE // Flock Ring y la maldita policía. After registering, you will receive a confirmation email about joining the webinar.
From day one, the Trump regime has depended on Big Tech corporations to advance its violent agenda. And in October 2025, two of these corporations, Flock and Amazon’s Ring announced a partnership to further entrench their violent tech weapons into the State’s surveillance and policing apparatus. Flock and Ring’s dangerous track record include being used by ICE to target migrants for deportation, being tapped by police agencies to identify protesters, and by government officials seeking to criminalize trans folks and abortion seekers. But communities across the country are fighting back! People are organizing to expose Flock’s Automated License Plate Readers (ALPR) and Amazon’s Ring cameras for what they are - mass surveillance and criminalization networks used to target our people - and to stop contracts between them and polICE. Join us to learn more about what Big Tech corporations are pushing to surveil us, why partnerships between Flock/Ring and the mf’n polICE are dangerous, and how you can join the fight to stop these partnerships to build truly safe communities where we have housing, healthcare, education, and other community needs, not racist surveillance.

Excellent take from @tressiemcphd.bsky.social. And let's name names: through gov't contracts and enormous data centers, Amazon is the backbone of of this massive surveillance operation. It's what enables the storing and crunching and mixing of these vast datasets.

It's almost like these layoffs are less about budget shortfalls and more about consolidating corporate power 👀
Amazon just announced another round of 16,000 layoffs, months after it laid off 14,000 workers.

Reminder that Amazon CEO Andy Jassy raked in over $40M in 2024.

And Amazon is spending at least $75 million producing and promoting the Melania documentary.

The system is rigged.

1. Cities and states should outlaw Amazon’s latest assault on small businesses — an AI tool that scrapes their websites and creates listings of their products within the Amazon app without their consent. It’s causing huge, costly problems. This can and should be banned.
