This @commondreams.org post highlights one of the many problems with data centers – they'll raise utility bills when people are already struggling to pay them in the first place.

This is a BIG win in stopping new data centers 🥳✊

In Hazle Township, PA, we joined local residents to pack a Township Supervisors meeting and voice our concerns about a proposed data center. Thanks to our activism, the Supervisors voted unanimously to DENY the plan!

Pure rage is a good way to describe it... 😤

For this administration, the cruelty is the point.
Y'all cannot conceive of the level of pure rage I feel every time I read about something Brooke Rollins has done. She's malicious and incompetent.

They're making hungry people reapply for SNAP. There no widespread SNAP abuse. There are billionaires abusing us so kids and elders go hungry.
Trump administration will require SNAP participants to reapply for benefits
The move is part of USDA chief Brooke Rollins’ effort to overhaul the nation’s largest anti-hunger program and get rid of “fraud.”

This administration has made its priorities clear: It would rather fund racist operations like ICE than ensure that everyday people can afford groceries 😡 Register to join us on November 19 for a live discussion and Q&A: http://fwwat.ch/4qrgIJe

We’ll be waiting… 👀

The president doesn’t directly control grocery prices, but Trump’s poorly-thought-out tariffs, weaponization of ICE against food workers and other destructive policies have made inflation worse.

Addressing the climate crisis means not only reining in fossil fuel use – it also means moving away from the factory farm model, which pollutes our climate with powerful greenhouse gases like methane.
Food and agriculture contribute one-third of global greenhouse gas emissions – second only to the burning of fossil fuels. Yet less than 4% of climate coverage mentions this, according to our recent analysis.

This situation is playing out in far too many households right now: Groceries like eggs, milk and cereal are becoming unaffordable and forcing people to rely on food banks.

We need to rein in corporate profiteering and inflation, because this simply isn't sustainable.
Michigan woman: The eggs, the milk, everything, even cereal, is ridiculously high. My job just pays my bills and my rent, so it's hard. Even people that are working still need a little extra help. I know we do.

Who would’ve thought? 🙄

While tariffs can boost the economy, Trump’s haphazard tariffs were never designed to do that – especially for products that can’t grow here. This recent news from the administration proves it knew that costs would fall on consumers: https://fwwat.ch/49lanca

Confused about how, exactly, AI data centers work? What about how they threaten our planet and democracy? This sums it up, in a laugh-or-you'll-cry kind of way.
Brilliant satire that doubles as a primer on the ongoing construction boom of supersized data centers across small town America—promoted as jobs creators even as the AI they enable is…wiping out jobs.
