The most powerful force in American politics today is anti-establishment fury at a rigged economic system.

To counter Trump’s fake populism and his culture wars, progressives should mount a real battle against economic elites who have shafted America’s middle and working classes.

Democrats need to realize ICE isn’t just—or even primarily—a mass deportation force.

ICE is also Trump’s most loyal internal security force which will be used to attack regime opponents and try to steal the election. They should defund his authoritarian capabilities.

There is no attitude for which legacy journalists are more often rewarded by their bosses than "Everybody needs to calm down." It is a preening announcement that you are the adult in the room, immune from emotion or overreaction or "hysteria." And it is the worst imaginable priority for this era. >

The message from the White House this morning is that, once again, it falls on ordinary American citizens to remain calm and professional when dealing with the heavily armed agents of the government because they are very emotional and might fly off into a murderous rage at the slightest insult.

ICE agents killing people in the streets. The naked extortion of a sovereign state. The National Guard unleashed in American cities. The Justice Department weaponized to prosecute political opponents.

The tyranny is on full display — and it's waking America up.

Ah here. The 10 o’clock news on BBV Radio 4 is leading with ‘JD Vance has described a woman shot dead by an ICE officer in Minnesota as a deranged leftist carrying out a terrorist attack’

This is not public service broadcasting
So far the BBC’s coverage of the Minnesota killing seems really, really off

Get Verify to verify what happened - NYT, Bellingcat etc already have - and report that
Evan Davis faux scratching his head on PM as to how there can be such different interpretations of clearly documented incidents (the shooting in Minnesota), right after platforming someone from the Heritage Foundation giving a deliberately false interpretation of events, barely challenged.

Sky News on Renee Nicole Good murder: "There are deeply conflicting accounts of what happened."

REALLY? Gonna both-sides this? One "account" can be seen on video and is confirmed by a dozen eye-witnesses. The other is a social media post by history's most notorious pathological liar.

Grow a spine.

While Reeves, rightly, condemns Reform's racist policies Labour continues to rip families apart. Labour's anti-immigration policies boil down to saying if you aren't born here you don't count. Labour wraps up xenophobia in slightly nicer language, not always, but the policies are still xenophobic.

@bsky.app does anybody else have a problem with watching video on full screen? If I expand the video to view full screen, it often goes into some sort of lock where I can’t close the video page or revert back to my feed, or do anything else but close the app and start again. iPhone 15Pro, iOS 26.

When people argue that renewable energy sources are too expensive, remember that we don’t invade countries to seize wind farms and there are no solar cartels. Fossil fuels have enormous geopolitical, public health, and climate externalities.
