Whew! Made it to green today & I’m desperate to see if these bubbles at the edge will be resolved by the pattern as written, so I’m likely to continue tonight. Maybe thru green? Maybe a bit of blue? Til my fingers cramp up? We’ll see!

This is Scheepjes Cotton Whirl yarn 711 Sprinkles, dye lot 2. 🧶

Finished the last #parasol ☂️ & instantly began again. I’m using a much larger hook this time - 2.75mm - as a treat.

This pattern features a series of concentric peacock-feather-eyes. There must be a better way to say that. Once again, this is my first time w this pattern and #yarn 🧶

Green with envy.

I’m surprised by how much the corner increases look like feathers. Really like that. The solid columns around them will end up looking like a flower. That sort of positive space v negative space is something I seek in fiber art.

Tonight I’m almost thru the blues. Woo!

Recently started using Scheepjes Cotton Whirl & learned their yarns are processed w recycled water. Cool! Then that used water is 95% recycled again. The remaining 5% is treated w yogurt, manure, & molasses to make it safer to return to the environment.

All ourple tonight.

Another pattern I found without attribution and the title was cropped off. This one was printed in English, though, so I’m hopeful.

First time pattern, first time yarn - Scheepjes Cotton Whirl #712 dye lot 2, very jewel-toned rainbow.

All done!

I’m happy with my first attempt at this vintage pattern. There is SO much more pattern 1km of yarn & 1.75mm hook wouldn’t reach.

I’ll try it again in the future with #10 white crochet thread and 1mm hook to get the rest of the pattern.

Tonight’s efforts do not include spreading the doily out. Apologies.

Interesting that the same lighting can produce such a different look just because the fabric is wrinkled.

I hope you’re all doing as well as possible this weekend. 💜

Much bigger, no pinker. Now fading into blue and pink + blue = purple. This yarn is a Scheepjes Cotton Whirl. I’ll use 1km of yarn when finished on 1.75mm hook.

Still haven’t found the origin of this Portuguese vintage filet crochet pattern, but I’ll continue to look.

A little bigger and a little pinker tonight. I’m using a 1.75mm hook for this.

I’ve had more homework than expected, but I’m ahead again after tonight, so my crochet production will pick up again. Molecular Genetics is no joke when you’re as old as I am. 😆

It’s coming along nicely. This pink is going to get SO pink then fade to purple and eventually light blue. Very into this #yarn 🧶

I received my first Pride selection of the year!! Sat March 6th

✨Cathedral City LGBT Days✨

If that’s your locale, I’ll see you there! Cat City Pride is a great time if you’ve never been & it’s cool to check out Coachella Valley, Palm Springs, and the Mojave Desert the first weekend in March.

Here I go again. 🧶

This pattern is another vintage one, but was scanned without a title. The text included with the chart is Portuguese. It has very interesting small pattern sections within the overall filet crochet. I hope it works for a parasol!

My last parasol of 2025 has become my first parasol of 2026. 😆 Oops.

2 more rows still to finish after this block, but I’m so pleased with how this lilies pattern worked up. 🧶 can you see them?

One out of 12 rams is uninterested in females. Deemed “non-procreative" by farmers, they're typically sent to slaughter. German farmer Michael Stücke rescues the gay rams. His company Rainbow Wool, sells fabulous wool products from his flock of gay sheep. rainbow-wool.com

Echo May, co-owner of Northwest Yarns, said that pop culture often stereotypes textile and fiber arts as “something of an old-lady art,” but she’s noticing that narrative shift. Younger knitters view slow, tactile projects as an alternative to endless scrolling and overconsumption.

Terrible news, fiber art 🧶 friends! I made a mistake last night and have just frogged 21 rows. 😞🥲

Tonight I’ll get back crocheting ✨correctly✨. Feels like a Star Trek Night. Or maybe Ari Aster? Are those similar feelings? 😆
Here is last night’s work on the last parasol of 2025 for me. The lily stems are just becoming visible in this filet crochet pattern.

Tonight I plan to get thru the grey and white stripes of the Asexual Pride Flag. It’s a lofty goal, but I have some good movies to listen to while I work. 🧶 💜

One last parasol for 2025 is a brand-new pattern featuring lilies in filet crochet in the colors of the Asexual Pride Flag. 💜🩶🤍🖤

This hook is 1.25mm in case you’re curious. This circle is not quite 3” wide.

Also visible is a second wip bc why not? It’s a 60s color palette gay pride flag lampion.
