Leonard Nimoy in 1979, on the eve of returning as Spock in Star Trek: The Motion Picture, was asked what he thought about the success of Star Wars despite its (perceived) lack of “social significance”. Nimoy, bless him, was having nothing to do with any “Star Trek vs Star Wars” bickering.

I'm thinking a lot about the budget and what income levels mean and what being well off, comfortable, rich or poor means. We have a car we barely use - I get the bus a lot. We buy mostly organic veg and fancy coffee. Eating out is a lunch - a sandwich and coffee, or cake and coffee. We have..

Very well put Casey. I urge everyone to read the alt text for more context.
FFS, kids, don't do this shit. Not only are you CENSORING A BOOK, you are censoring someone else's real, recorded queer history. This isn't something to be proud of. It's pathetic. We have to fight hard enough to keep copies of Gender Queer: A Memoir in libraries in the first place.

I've been about this a lot lately. The transmisogynist lot who say you aren't female if you don't have a womb, are making me think that I don't want to be female, as I don't have a uterus, cervix or fallopian tubes anymore. Like, if you only count women as those who have, or once had those... 1/2
The argument "your vagina isn't a vagina if you don't have a womb" is so fucking terrible, even by "Gender Critical" standards

Superman is a refugee from a planet where they ignored scientists warning them about catastrophic environmental changes so of COURSE the right has decided to hate him.

Can you do alt text on images for @archiveofourown.org posts? Or does it have to be done where the image is hosted?
How do you do alt text on Tumblr posts?

This is wonderful. And has alt text.
In honour of my new baby and in honour of not supposed to be working, over the next few weeks I'm going to post this short story called 'Fledgling' I made for my patreon 2 years ago. This is part 1/14.

I don't know where people got this idea that the goal - even with books aimed at kids - is to make the reader feel "good". The only goal is to make the reader FEEL. And sometimes that includes feeling bad.

Alt text:
A comic panel of batman with his index finger raised, lecturing us, saying Don't believe those crackpot lies about people who worship differently, or whose skin is of a different colour, or whose parents come from another country. Remember our American Heritage of freedom and equality'.
Happy 4th of July, Batman.

Fucking hell. I'm from Kent. Maidstone. It was a shithole in the 90s and it looks like it remains a shithole. The Maidstone library was a good one though. I hope library staff and Kent citizens are fighting this.

This is hateful and dystopian. I was just on holiday in Kent. Nice to know how welcome queer people (esp children) are there eh? Please, Kent locals, write to your councillors and resist this grossness. #KidLitUK www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

hey #knitsky I love each and every one of you that uses ALT text to describe the images that you post, it really helps to make your crafting accessible to a wider community!

if you don't do this yet and don't know how to add this, you can turn on a reminder in your bluesky settings

What lantern would Sàm and Dean Winchester be? I think green/willpower for Sam and red/rage for dean. And sam would tease Dean for having a rage kitty companion.

Not sure if there's alt text on that image, but its an ink (or computer?) drawing of a white corgi wagging it's, tail, tongue out, with a collar with the blue lantern hope sigil on it. Writing says 'everything will be ok'. It's cute AF.
Hope Corgi is my favorite

today for disability pride I'm muting anyone who posts in the knitting hashtags or feeds without using alt text for their images, because they clearly don't want to share them with the whole community.
