Zack Polanski the Greens are sharing misinformatioin about the Gorton and Denton by-election, and ought to be ashamed of themselves.

The chart he has shared on Threads suggests only thee Greens can beat Reform. But it's using vote change data.

A close look at Dana Kyndrová's photographs from inside the Soviet barracks, where change is absorbed into routine, and doesn't look like the spectacle you expect.

Sport has always been a touchstone for women's liberation. No wonder men try to put a stop to it.
A runner was pulled from the Spine Race because Taliban sympathisers threatened to assassinate her during the event. This is part of a global and historical pattern of misogynist terrorism.

Anyone who believes in equity must pull out all the stops to defend women’s & girls’ right to play sport. Because if we don’t defend that right, men will only be emboldened to dramatically intensify their restrictions on women’s & girls’ freedoms.

And what all these case studies show is that women’s ability to participate freely in sport is far from trivial, but is the canary in the coalmine, the touchstone and bellwether for women’s freedoms in a society.

These may feel different to Porter’s case, because they were perpetrated by individual men instead of an organised regime. But all misogyny is ‘organised’, in that it’s fostered by an ideology & culture, which thrives everywhere from politics to porn, the military to the manosphere.

This is because sport gives women financial & social power, geographical freedom, & greater authority within relationships. There are numerous stark case studies in which men have assaulted and murdered sportswomen to quash these exact freedoms. I wrote about these: open.substack.com/pub/rachelhe...

The death threats sent to Porter are part of a global, transhistorical pattern in which women’s ability to play sport is a bellwether for the extent of female liberation within a culture. Men often ban women’s sport as one of the first restrictions they impose on women’s freedoms.

This confirms what women already know: the cost-of-living crisis never went away. Rising food prices hit women first & worst.

The Budget proved there are options beyond the blunt tool of interest rates. Measures like rail fare caps should be the start, not the end of a targeted cost-of-living plan.
UK inflation rises for first time in five months to 3.4% in December
Bigger than forecast rise part-fuelled by air fare and food price rises suggests Bank of England will keep interest rates on hold in February

Good intentions aren’t enough to understand poverty—good data matters. Our new interim report with the Centre for Public Data examines gaps in UK poverty data and their impact on policy and research.
