Recovering Engineer. Failed at retirement, returned to the workplace.

Motorbike travel on occasion, less than I'd like.

South West UK.
I've had issues with my joints, probably rheumatism, since I was 14.

My Dr referred me to a specialist, it took about 9 months to get the appointment. Following this, I've had X-rays and an ultrasound. Both carried out on time, in and out of hospital in 15mins.

NHS seems a bit better...

Tim Davie gone. Good news I think.

Well... Depends on who replaces him.

So Danny Kruger has gone ... I think that's probably good for the Tories?

Went to look at the BBC news website to read about Peter Mandelson. No space due to reporting on Charlie Kirk.

Is it just me, or is UK media response to Charlie Kirk completely out of step with his relevance to UK?

Another day, another BBC top story on Nigel Farage and Reform.

So tired of this shit.

I've said it before and I will say it again. The same people that want you to work until you're 75 won't hire you after 50.

Bad picture, but saw this Suzuki RE5 at the Augustusburg motorcycle museum.

I remember being very impressed by the technology (Wankel engine and modern design, especially the clocks). Used to regularly look at one parked on my way to school in 1977 or so. Always wanted one... Not so much now!

Appropriately the Horex VR6 was parked outside the motorcycle museum in Augustusburg (it's a rare motorcycle).

And a Nurnberg Triumph.

Little did I know that Triumph in Coventry was founded by a German guy that also founded Triumph in Nurnberg and they both moved onto motorcycles...

Hildebrand and Wolfmuller motorcycle 1894. At Augustusburg Motorrad museum.

Don't think I'd be keen to ride this at 30mph...

Route I've taken on this year's trip. Turn around and head for home today. Get to Calais (different route) on Friday.

Camping trip on the outskirts of Zagreb. Great site.

A bit late to mention this, but the show currently on at the Leicester Square Theatre: Wilko, Love Death and Rock 'N' Roll was really good.

Especially if you liked Dr Feelgood.

Ozzy Osbourne was so proud of where he came from, and in return we were proud of him. Having met him and all of Black Sabbath it was always like talking to your Brummie uncle, kind, sarcastic, warm.

It’s only been a matter of days almost, since Villa Park, what a way to bow out! End of an era. RIP Ozzy.

Also, this was my introduction to Ozzy. As he was leaving some girls ran into the store and got his autograph and then they told me who he was. He was in Boston for OzzFest and they were going that night. I told them to bring gas masks. His kids came back in future years for more shock pens.

Fuck. Ozzy Osbourne is dead.

I suppose I find it a bit affecting as a 'man of a certain age' since his passing is more than a little reinforcing of my own mortality.

I’ll be doing my best to amplify the call for standards and/or a ban on disposable barbecues ‘this morning’.

1020 ITV

Any reposts or help sharing the message hugely appreciated

@vikkislademp.bsky.social
Disposable Barbecues are made with no consideration for safety or the environment.

As a consequence we have a near constant stream of…

- catastrophic environmental destruction
- life changing injuries
- needless landfill

Minimum standards for their production are essential

In 2019, I went on a trip to Volgograd with a couple of friends. We all had old BMW GSs. Good trip, via eastern Europe and Ukraine (crossed from Ukraine to Russia). I guess I'm not likely to ride a bike in Russia again.

Back to the late 90s. Just need to fit a quieter exhaust once I collect it; I really don't like offensively loud exhausts.
