There’s an ad I keep hearing on podcasts where a woman is getting stressed out making Christmas dinner, and her teenage son says “Mum, I, er, made you a playlist on Amazon Music.” God, it is so unintentionally bleak. The whole interaction is so cold and joyless.
Maybe it’s just poor acting, I dunno.

Unfortunately, in US journalism it is considered neutral to spread a lie, but it is considered "biased" to call out a lie. So, there is a structural asymmetry that rewards colorful lies with virality.

Watched the film on its November 1997 Channel 4 premiere, and again in January 2017 before going to see "T2 Trainspotting", but had never read the novel. Suspects the non-standard spellings/Scottish dialect on the first page had always put me off. 1/4
