saw someone post their Celebrity Traitors dream cast for next season and they put John Terry on the list, which would be great for me personally as a JT hater

Fascinating IOC political maneuvering here in this article, btw. Getting this done by Milan/Cortina 2026 allows for a full IOC session vote on the policy. There will be an EB meeting to rubber stamp what the decision will be, presumably.

This gets it done before LA 2028 qualifying. Very accelrated.
Guess that the IOC is going to ban transgender women from sport before LA 2028 based on a wholesale scientific review which seems to just be from things that are not in the public domain:
Transgender women to be banned from all female Olympic events
IOC likely to announce new policy early in new year after findings of a scientific review about the permanent physical advantages of being born male

to me, bond could die in any bond movie, they’re all their own universe? maybe there’s a few that connect to each other, but i’ve never felt like there was continuity?
James Bond’s death in No Time to Die is causing a nightmare for the next film. Writers are stuck because Bond “was blown to pieces.”

Anthony Horowitz, author of three 007 novels, says:

“You can't have him wake up in shower and saying it was all a dream."

At risk of flogging a dead horse: this whole letter is a reminder that the creative process is an end in and of itself, and vital to self-actualisation. You can’t experience BECOMING, as he puts it, by outsourcing it to ChatGPT.
In 2006 a high school English teacher asked students to write to a famous author & ask for advice.

KURT VONNEGUT - born 103yrs ago today - was the only one to respond.

His reply was a doozy.

Whenever someone in power blames immigrants on the difficulties facing working people, working class communities and those struggling to make ends meet in disadvantaged areas, remember two words: 'managed decline'.

For the midnight crew on this #EdmundFitzgwtald50 anniversary, I have added more markups to the Newsweek article that gave Gordon Lightfoot his template for His "Wreck of" song lyrics.

I love Gordon Lightfoot, and I would know absolutely nothing about the Edmund Fitzgerald were it not for this song.
Just talking to my dad and he was listening to this song, as it’s the 50th anniversary of the Edmund Fitzgerald sinking.

THE MAN WHO INVENTED CHRISTMAS, which is about Charles Dickens writing "A Christmas Carol", features Christopher Plummer as Scrooge, and is just all around delightful.
