I think COVID broke us, not to say we hadn’t been on the downward spiral for a while but I think COVID was the breaking point I think we as a country saw that there were things bigger than us, that we had no control over even the small aspects of our lives sometimes and it broke us.

20+ yr caregiver to children with rare disease & I have thoughts; MANY times we have gone just a town or two over for 1-2 nights of respite. We could not go 50+ miles away because we needed to be able to get home quickly in an emergency. This policy is bad in a lot of ways, but it's also ableism
A Hampton Inn in Asheville just canceled my family's reservation because our address (incorrectly) showed Asheville—and the hotel bars locals within 50 miles.
When I asked why, they said, "because of our homeless population," adding that most hotels here have similar policies.
