Yes, I'm always exhausted. I'm pretty much a nobody; I don't put effort into growing followers. I come here to mainly read, get the news, occasionally engage with content that matters to me, and sometimes share my thoughts. She/Her
The monks walking for peace across America are passing through my (little) town today. I really want to go. What is holding me back is the rain, the possible darkness, my chronic illness flaring, parking fiascos, and most of all - the CRAZY maga "christians" in my town who are being jerks to them.

Today I am angry. My therapist says anger fuels you forward and that can be channeled for good. However today I just want to scream, angry-cry, and throw shit around my house.

20+ yr caregiver to children with rare disease & I have thoughts; MANY times we have gone just a town or two over for 1-2 nights of respite. We could not go 50+ miles away because we needed to be able to get home quickly in an emergency. This policy is bad in a lot of ways, but it's also ableism
A Hampton Inn in Asheville just canceled my family's reservation because our address (incorrectly) showed Asheville—and the hotel bars locals within 50 miles.

When I asked why, they said, "because of our homeless population," adding that most hotels here have similar policies.

This is outrageous.

I am fed up with the maga boomer bs. Had extended family Christmas party last night. Most of my family are alcoholics & get togethers get sloshy, if you know what I mean. My 50 yo husband stepped outside to smoke (thc vape) and my 75 yo uncle, drunk as a skunk started yelling at my dad 1/

Because there is no way to edit this, let me clarify: My mother is the one who is wealthy. I am not. I am a very middle class, working class person/family. She has ALWAYS used gifts as her love language & way to control and manipulate. Ok, read on :)
My Christmas gift story with a narc MAGA mother. See what you think. Context: I'm an only child. Divorced parents. Wealthy. I'm nearly 50. I've been the quiet good kid my whole life. I stopped doing that this past year. Worn tf out with it. I was already LC with mom. Now I'm close to NC 1/

First, what a horrible tragedy, I am not making light of this. 2nd: lots of Americans will use this story to "prove" that universal healthcare doesn't work & this will happen "all the time" if we get it in the USA. 3rd: this kind of thing ALREADY happens here in the USA, in lots of different ways.

I am low and almost no contact with my extreme MAGA mother. I feel guilty every now and again, and then I read something like this from him that she will no doubt 100% get behind and applaud, and then I'm fine with being LC/NC again. It's almost a gift from him if I have to find a silver lining.

I am chronically ill. My insurance through my husband's UAW plan - admittedly a Cadillac plan by all accounts - has paid $175k in claims for my disability this year alone. My portion has been less than $5k (which is still a lot for us financially but I will gladly take it)
$1000 in a HSA and a gym in the airport is not going to be enough if you get cancer.

We need to extend the ACA tax credits and work to put in place a universal healthcare system in the United States.

The most precious commodity you have is your attention. You don’t have to waste it on poor-faith debates or arguments with strangers if you don’t think they’ll be productive. You can prioritize the things that matter to you and make your life richer.

It finally happened. Netflix realized our daughter moved across the country and now I have to pay an "extra user" fee so she can watch on the family plan & keep her profile. It's $9 a month without ads - it's annoying but it's one small thing I can do for her. Also, call it a Christmas gift :)

Mine too and desperately tried to regulate it, and nothing really works. Part of it is my body and health, and part of it is this hellscape we live in and day-to-day bombardment. Sorry you are feeling it too :(

that seems accurate; we are a family of 3 and I spend 75% of that amount give or take and I am doing it as cheaply as I possibly can. I've cut my fresh produce back, less meat, less snacks, etc. So if I kept my regular habits, it would be more than this amount, easily.
FYI for when Trump next lies about the price of groceries in about 20 minutes.👇

My dysautonomia could never. Flying as it is now is already very difficult
I’d like to say fuck you preemptively to any airline that attempts this strategy of torture. It’s miserable enough already.

and use that as motivation to keep going

The “what should poor people be allowed to eat” debate is infuriating.

The answer is simple.

They should be allowed to eat anything.

It’s no one’s business.

Ideally we would agree that food is a basic human right & it would be plentiful for all.

Until then, stop judging. Fed is best.

We've been staying ahead of things, or so I thought ... sat down to pay some bills and realized my credit card debt is higher than I'd like or feel comfortable with and things are teetering over the edge into "this might be getting scary" - I'm not doing so well at the moment.

The same people who think buying junk food with SNAP benefits is “abusing the system” are fine with wealthy parents using vouchers to send their kids to private schools.

Saw a NP today for a problem unrelated to my neurological stuff. She very casually asks me if my cervical spinal stenosis was "all better" I'm thinking she meant my symptoms which are actually worse and we had JUST discussed that. Nope. She meant structurally. Um, it doesn't fix itself or grow back

Used to be my favorite afterschool snack back in the 80s.
I’ve rediscovered the joy of cinnamon toast. A nice whole grain bread. Some kerrygold. And a smattering of sugar and cinnamon.

Live the dream with me.

Yes! Our local food bank cannot accept fresh meat donations (canned only) from the public BUT it has an agreement with a local grocery chain to buy meat at a deep discount. A cash donation in this case goes much further AND their clients get something they really want! WIN WIN!
Hi just so I'm clear.

I wrote "donate to food banks" and do "food runs for mutual aid" because they are different things!

Food banks want your money! they can do more with your money than with stuff.

Mutual aid groups often want stuff! Mine has a food fridge!
Now is a really good time to donate to food banks, and do food runs for mutual aid groups. Also, do menstrual product runs.
