Why did nobody argue this yesterday? Seems important.
The Take Care Clause was a byproduct of the lessons learned from the Glorious Revolution that the executive should not be able to dispense with the law promulgated by the legislature. It was not a constitutional provision to empower the executive branch— but to constrain it!

Someone’s going to sue 60 minutes for editing the interview right? The precedent is just sitting there…

“60 Minutes paid me a lot of money”

In an edited-out part of the Trump interview Trump brags about extorting CBS for millions for… editing out a part of Kamala’s interview.

Among other things, more mentally ill people *are* homeless in public because these fuckers cut the Social Security staff by 7,000 and are depriving people in need of basic income.
among other things, it is not actually illegal to be homeless or mentally ill in public
REPORTER: Why are troops stationed here at Union Station and at the National Mall instead of areas where crime is higher?

JD VANCE: Crime is actually extremely high here at Union Station. You have vagrants.

Seems like an easy lawsuit on originalist, and History & Tradition grounds @aclu.org
Did you know that the Founders were so vehemently against having a standing army that might do what Comer is calling for that they explicitly wrote into the Constitution that Congress has to reauthorize the existence of the Army every two years or the entire thing has to disband?

This policy will discourage lawfully present immigrants who are eligible for Medicaid from signing up, or signing their kids up, leaving them without health insurance. That, of course, is a feature, not a bug.
July 17, 2025 at 6:38 PM
Reason #7,305 this was a terrible bill. No Medicaid = less medical treatment = Social Security more likely to deprive you of basic income while sick.

That’s a long list. We can’t provide support for the MySSA accounts in any real way. We can’t contact Direct Express anymore. We can’t track money we’ve requested back from Direct Express anymore. There’s more but imma need more coffee for this question. 🥴

Some 💩 went down at SSA today, and it’s not great so let’s talk about it 🫠 TLDR version: effective 7/3, 40-50% of the CSR (customer service rep) staff will be reassigned to answering the national 1800#. This decision was made without input from any regional, area, or teleservice center leadership.

One year ago, SCOTUS overturned Chevron deference in Loper Bright Enterprises v. Raimondo — limiting federal agencies’ power to interpret the laws they implement and risking our health, wealth, and safety in the process.

We tracked the impact of this decision and the results may surprise you. 🤔⬇️

In the strongest terms: if lawyer, or if lawyer-shaped, or if you want to know why the lawyers on here are EXERCISED about this outrage: read this.

What the majority did, with zero justification or explanation, is contemptible. It is lawless and it rewards lawlessness. SCOTUS must be reformed.
I encourage everyone to actually read the dissent. The description of what this government is doing should shock anyone with a conscience. It is unfathomably cruel, indeed sadistic. And yes, *this* is being enabled by the highest court in the nation.
#BREAKING: Over a (sharp) public dissent from the three Democratic appointees, #SCOTUS clears the way for the Trump administration to remove migrants to third countries *without* giving them an additional opportunity to contest whether they face persecution or other forms of mistreatment there:

Bring ‘em laptops! While they stand around waiting for a riot to not happen, maybe they can help Social Security clear the years-long claims backlog FFS.
This is the way to stand up to these bullies! Respect ✊

Fellow immigration lawyers will recognize the theme of this case as “ERO goes into big boy court and quickly figures out that it can’t get away with the lax evidentiary standards it’s used to in court.”

/ERO = ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations, the “cops” of internal enforcement.
NEW: In a SCATHING decision, Judge Briones of the Western District of Texas absolutely SAVAGED the government over this case, tearing to shreds ICE’s hearsay “evidence” that this husband and wife were in Tren de Aragua as “completely and wholly unsubstantiated” — and ordered their immediate release!

Have always been troubled by the hyperbole and cognitive dissonance in how some lefties describe their name, role and mission. Not so with the ACLU - hard to think of a group that has earned the right to their name to a greater extent right now. Congratulations on a big, if interim, win.

They’re about to cut off at least a month’s worth of benefits to poor, disabled children with rep payees who are immigrants.
NEW: @nytimes.com reports that the Trump admin is moving to strip hundreds of thousands of immigrants of Social Security Numbers they got when they were granted work authorization, repurposing a "death master file" to try to erase their previous legal presence in the United States.
