It has been a truly mind-opening journey. WHOLISTIC is one step towards whole-organism neuroscience and a true physiological observatory - with extensions on the way! I am continually amazed by what the data reveals - so much remains to be discovered and mined.

Hey spinal/ventral nerve cord folks. we’re organizing this cross species “cords” meeting @hhmijanelia.bsky.social . Hurry up and upload your abstracts. As a trainee these were my favorite meetings (small and focused) where I got the most useful feedback. DM in case of any Qs.
📢 Applications are now open for our cross-disciplinary conference on nerve cord circuits.

🧠 Join experts to probe the organization & function of cord circuits across species.

🏨 Hotel, meals & registration covered.

Nice article in the transmitter about connectome-enabled brain models, covering @lappalainenjk.bsky.social’s work with @srinituraga.bsky.social and colleagues!!
It took more than a decade to trace the 130,000 connections in a fruit fly's brain. With the map in hand, researchers are turning to the next step in connectomics: building simulations.

The MICrONS papers are finally out. Very happy to have been part of this. Joint work of so many labs lead by @andreastolias.bsky.social and Xaq Pitkow. Large scale efforts and data resources like these combined with cutting edge AI methods are great avenues to drive neuroscience forward.
A package of research papers from the MICrONS (Machine Intelligence from Cortical Networks) consortium in Nature and Nature Methods provides a detailed map of mouse brain cell structure and connections, offering insights into how they relate to activity in the mouse brain. 🧪
