Female scientists have to wait longer for their articles to be reviewed than their male colleagues. An analysis of 36.5 million papers in the life sciences shows that for females it took 115 days to reach a decision, compared to 101 days for men journals.plos.org/plosbiology/... @plosbiology.org

First try of a graphical abstract for the overarching research question I'm trying to answer in my dissertation 😊
Graphical abstract on my research question: What is the nature of mental representations of phonological word forms in infants growing up with regiolectal input? In the middle is a minimal figure of an infant with thought bubbles rising. In the thought bubble, there are two groups, the community and two caregivers with speech bubbles containing different word forms (of foot, standard and alemannic form), transcribed in IPA. The majority of the community in this graphs produces the dialectal form, only 1 produces the standard form, while both caregivers produce the standard. Around the child (reaching to the right) there is a box labeled mental lexicon. In the childs head is a drawing of a discette as "save" symbol and dots in several colors: orange, blue and yellow. The speech bubbles above are also coded in these colors: orance the dialectal forms, blue the standard. On the right in the box there is a large brain with the picture of a foot on it, that symbols the named object by the wordforms used by the community and the caregivers. In the middle there are 3 rows explaining different hypothesis of mental representations: single storage (where either the caregivers standard form or the community's dialectal form is saved), double storage (where both forms are saved) and underspecified representation, where neither the community's nor the caregivers' form is saved like that, but rather something not specifying the vowel ([f_us], coded in yellow).
