I'm starting to suspect that about half of all the classic games which are small but densely packed and intentionally designed are the result of a developer who lacked the resources to make something massive and mediocre.

I think I know what happened. Every time someone made a joke about how long Silksong was taking, they added another enemy gauntlet to the game.

More and more people reporting today that Stripe - the payment processor that Itch said were putting the most pressure on them - now have staff actively confirming that yes, they are censoring LGBT content, adult or otherwise. That this is official company policy.

This seems kinda significant.

Quite funny that open source is the thing that keeps the tech bubble floating, and yet all these big companies are constantly looking for opportunities to take it out back and shoot it.

Windows 11 feels and works like a giant web app. Right click, and you have to wait like 60 seconds for things to show up. And having 24-core CPU doesn't help apparently.

I can't escape the conclusion that we've ceded the entire public discourse about art to outrage merchants and algorithms and this is the result. Massive audiences addicted to passively consuming frictionless media while eagerly waiting to be told which title it's en vogue to hate next.

I think that something along these lines is the future - storefronts like itch and valve represent a single point of failure which is trivial for payment providers to apply pressure to.

Collective Shout, the group that took credit for bullying Mastercard into recently censoring more platforms, stated that apparently it took them ~1000 phonecalls to convince them to give them what they wanted?

We got like way more people than that don't we?
ok then. one angle of attack then needs to be actively bombarding Visa and Mastercard's phone numbers and emails.

are customer support phone numbers/emails the best avenue to start with or is there a better option?
The fact that they only needed ~1000 people to call in and email to get their way is actually pretty crazy. There are more people on some of the Discord servers I'm in that could equal their weight, and some of these are just podcast fandoms.
