I'll share this again for 2026 and for any new influx--well over 100 planetary scientists here on Bluesky.

Given <waves hands around> they may not necessarily be posting much about planetary science, but that's how it goes.

If you're a planetary scientist and want to be on the list, DM me!

Instead of an LPSC abstract, a few of us posted our concerns about the censorship of the conference at blog.planetary-research.org/2026/01/06/a..., with some suggestions for other conferences you can attend to discuss planetary science. (Definitely shorter than 2 pages 10 pt font, too!)

This day 57 years ago.

Earthrise.

A remarkable view of Earth hoving into view as the Apollo 8 command module flew over the lunar surface.

That's us. That's home.

Random discussion with colleague leads to pointing at locations on Mars globe. Realized globe is in need of a serious dusting.

Like the actual northern hemisphere of Mars, that dusty little bugger. Thinking is better if my globe stays this way.

No, thank you, Dr. @juliamorphology.bsky.social, for your work advancing accessibility and inclusion in the geosciences. It helps make the discipline a little easier for students with disabilities to navigate and sets an example for the rest of the geoscience community to follow!
woohoo! I am honored and grateful to receive the 2025 IGER award from IAGD. Thank you to @accessiblegeo.bsky.social for this recognition! Thank you to my letter writers and champions for your support and nomination! This is my first award as a professor!!

Planetary geology folks, section meetings for GSA are in the spring. Smaller, but cheaper than a half week of LPSC, posters double the size, talks 17 minutes, abstracts 345 words. Come meet some of your local colleagues!

(LPSC was my first meeting, I love going - but hate what it has become.)
Planetary scientists - we have a continual lament that goes like, waaah we have too many meetings how can we work and put in so many abstracts! Here's a solution! Choose a different meeting!
It's really disheartening to try to talk to colleagues about boycotting a conference that removed all its records of abstracts pertaining to DEI, only for the response to largely be "I don't want to go, but..." But what??? Each of us has agency! You can choose not to go!
