We are living in a world where we have safe and effective vaccines against some of the most detrimental diseases in history.

And yet people choose not to give them to their children and protect them and others.

Measles could have been eradicated by now.
A reminder that measles cannot be treated, it can only be prevented.

It is one of the most contagious diseases in the world and can cause blindness, deafness and life-threatening lung and brain infections.

Time for some new #knitting. Just downloaded this pattern for a Norwegian Resistance Hat, originally protesting against the Nazis in WW2, now repurposed as a 'Melt the ICE' statement. But please someone, tell me a good rebellious wool to get. I am tricoteuse. TY 🧶

Melt the ICE Hat pattern by Paul S Neary
In the 1940’s, Norwegians made and wore red pointed hats with a tassel as a form of visual protest against Nazi occupation of their country. Within two years, the Nazis made these protest hats illegal...

Went out into the garden to refill a bird feeder, seeing no birds at the station. As I came out, something burst into the pyracantha next to it. Thought it was a pigeon until a sparrowhawk burst out with a starling.

I think it went in after something smaller. Pretty sure the starling got away.

OTD in 2022 George Galloway released one of the absolute, all-time classics.

He has yet to delete it, show humility, or confirm/deny if this means he in fact being paid to act like an idiot, or if he just does it free.

What they mean is it's not profitable *enough*. GSK (British) managed to make a new vaccine for shingles. Which can be worse than just painful - get vaccinated.

Emails are not letters. Don't write a letter. No-one will read it.

If you're struggling with this, write your letter and get AI to summarise it as bullet points. Check for accuracy and send that.
This is the job applicant version of that comic where someone uses AI to turn bullet points into a full length email and the recipient uses AI to turn the email into bullet points.

Last night, I got properly "doored" for the first time. A car in the road to my right paused, and the rear left passenger threw open his door without looking, right into my path. I ended up on the floor, badly winded but ok.

If you don't know what the "Dutch reach" is, NOW is the time to learn.

How did Starmer go from landslide to endgame in under two years? Also this week: the most murderous mammal on earth; and every thought I have about an insane train plan.

My take on Trump ordering the removal of the Pride flag at the Stonewall National Monument in NYC is that he's a pedophile and rapist who is actively covering up his role in a massive sex trafficking operation that targeted children and doing everything he can to distract from that cover-up.
