Lifelong Virginian. Fan of public service. Obsessed with our future governor, Abigail Spanberger.

Why am I such a fan of Abigail Spanberger? Because she embodies everything I love and respect in politicians.

A thread:

The best politicians are public servants. Spanberger did two hard and risky jobs for the Republic. She was federal law enforcement with USPIS, and she was a CIA officer overseas.

As we gather for Christmas, please join me in thanking those who make the holidays possible. Thank you to our servicemembers, National Guardsmen, law enforcement officers, first responders, and healthcare workers — who often sacrifice time with their own loved ones to keep us safe. 🇺🇸

The relentless focus on affordability continues. She doesn't mention Trump or Washington once.

I also liked her nuanced answer on being a historic first, breaking the glass ceiling for women.

Looking forward to the companion piece on Monday, about her intel career.

Spanberger won an unprecedentedly large victory in a swing state. Zohran won big in a solid blue city.

But this whole idea that they had two distinct messages is wrong.

They both focused heavily on the biggest issue of the day: Affordability.
Spanberger is nothing special and ran at a convenient time against a worse opponent. it’s backhanded nonsense to run this “there’s room for both” line when it’s *very* clear who ran the more significant and inspirational campaign and who represents the future of the party.

It's refreshing to have someone focused on policies that will improve people's lives, instead of flashy stunts and culture war stuff.
December 18, 2025 at 11:53 PM
This makes sense given that they were both in the House class of 2018. That's often what it comes down to, not just ideology.
VA Governor-Elect Spanberger has endorsed Rep. Angie Craig in the MN Senate primary.

Great pictures of Spanberger with the NoVA congressional delegation.
Today, I was honored to join my Virginia delegation colleagues for the Congressional statue dedication honoring Barbara Rose Johns.

Her courage and leadership helped expand opportunity for generations of students.

She will represent the Commonwealth proudly in the halls of Congress.

Two absolute queens.

Most of the reasons I like Abigail so much, also apply to Elissa Slotkin.
So good to catch up with Governor-elect @SpanbergerforVA today. We will get through this moment in our history with two things: engaged citizens and principled leaders. And Spanberger is one of those principled leaders ready to move the ball down the field.

Abigail's latest post on Instagram, wishing the National Guard a happy birthday. Officially 389 years old today.

I love this look... the dark blazer and the flag brooch. Usually she's wearing shades of blue, or her red and purple blazers.

As a fan of pragmatism, liberalism, good governance, federal LE, the CIA, girl bosses, Virginia and elections, Spanberger really is a dream come true.

We're getting specials to replace Mundon King, Hashmi, and Michael Jones (running to replace Hashmi).

And the cabinet is less than half full.
Delegate Candi King will serve in critical role of Secretary of Commonwealth in Spanberger administration

That means another special election!

Her Prince William County seat was Harris +35% so should be an easy hold

Virginia is for election lovers!

I am glad that, at least in Virginia, you had former Republican legislators who saw the threat posed by Trump and embraced the Dem tickets.

No half measures where they're criticizing both sides, just Full Send on Spanberger and voting blue.
Good to see. Just a few more weeks and Virginia will have a MASSIVE upgrade in the Governor's Mansion, from Youngkin to Spanberger. Can't wait! bluevirginia.us/2025/12/mond... h/t @DavidIRamadan

I truly think she has a servant's heart. Her whole life has been in public service.

My wife and I are the same way. We would never be satisfied spending our days selling products or fighting for market share or whatever.
Happy Thanksgiving, Virginia! 🦃

I was so grateful to spend yesterday with my family preparing Thanksgiving meals with The Giving Heart in Richmond.

From my family to yours, we’re wishing all Virginians a joyous, safe, and restful Thanksgiving.

This clip is worth highlighting. I'm glad she spoke up about the outrageous comments towards Mark Kelly, Elissa Slotkin, and the rest.

Potentially an early fight with the administration after she gets sworn in.

But the universities are a huge asset for Virginia, so it's important we get all the boards figured out and free from Trump's interference.
Virginia Gov.-elect Abigail Spanberger (D) criticized the Trump administration and outgoing Gov. Glenn Youngkin (R) for interfering in public college and university policies and leadership, calling it a break from long-standing bipartisan practice.
Spanberger blasts Youngkin for politicizing Va. college boards, vows changes
In an interview with The Post, Virginia Gov.-elect Abigail Spanberger (D) suggested changes to how the state should oversee its colleges and universities.

I can't believe she's still traveling the state. I'm exhausted just reading about this.

She campaigned for almost 2 full years. If I were her I would not leave Greater Richmond until after the Inauguration.
I had a great time in Roanoke last night visiting some of our amazing campaign volunteers and staff! Every phone call made, door knocked, and dollar donated helped make our huge victory possible, and I am so thankful to everyone who played even a small role in our campaign.

As with a lot of things in govt, it comes down to proper funding and managerial competence.

Perhaps it's less urgent than the headline-making political battles against the other party. It's certainly less interesting. But a true public servant will try to fix this stuff & these systems working.
November 20, 2025 at 1:12 PM
This guy's a bigger stan than me lol.

I'm sure Abigail is flattered but she knows how long it takes to campaign. She's not gonna dip out and move to Iowa halfway thru her single term.
While Democrats whisper about avoiding another female nominee, @billkristolbulwark.bsky.social suggests the opposite: "I really wonder whether, you know, they shouldn't just nominate Spanberger and Sherrill ... They'll win 40 states."
November 19, 2025 at 8:09 PM
I can count the number of legislative Dems who endorsed Levar Stoney on one hand.

And when Levar dropped out, none of them stepped up to run or found someone else. The efforts to draft Bobby Scott were a farce.

It's as easy to lob criticism online, harder to get off the couch and run.
I don’t think Brian wanted Spanberger to be the dem nominee for gov in 2025. Neither did most of the real Dems in the Virginia legislature.
November 10, 2025 at 9:38 PM
1961 was the last Virginia gubernatorial election under the Byrd Machine, before the 24th amendment ended poll taxes.

In other words, Abigail has the biggest win for any Democrat running for governor, since black people could vote again.

Arguably the biggest win for any Dem in a free election.
Fun facts

Abigail Spanberger got biggest win for a Dem in Virginia Governor election since 1961

Ghazala Hashmi got biggest win for Dem in Virginia Lt. Governor election since 1965

Virginia Dems won most seats in Virginia House of Delegates since 1987

Just saw this actually. Both of the campus precincts are going to exceed 2024 numbers. Falls Church City is at like, 85% of 2024 numbers. Alexandria City is up there.

It's going to be a great night for Abigail and the Commonwealth.
🚨🚨

Chaz just now on his live YouTube. One of the voting sites in Blacksburg, VA (home of Virginia Tech) officially has more votes than 2024 Presidential.

I cannot stress how insane that is.
