fyi if anybody here followed me but didn't know me on twitter, i don't respect or validate anything less than full support for palestinian liberation and despise all elected officials who have failed to use their power or voice in service to that goal.

This is just ahistorical, the Afghan withdrawal was largely popular among anti war people (minus the weird knife missile attack at the end of it). It was the PRO WAR crew who turned on him, which led him to go full hawk on Ukraine.

i don't want to shop for healthcare, bargain hunt for produce, or any other stupid overcomplication of getting necessities that's forced on us by capitalist freaks who squeeze more cash out of every step in the process, including steps they just make up!

saying shit like "well i hope (x group that will be affected by trump more) is happy even tho they didn't support harris" is a tacit admission that you always had less to lose in the election than you claimed with your self-interested deflections about gaza

omg the easiest way to stop people from getting pushed onto subway tracks is to build barriers like several other countries have and that new york can easily afford jfc. literally the most straightforward public safety measure possible in this scenario.

it would be so valuable for every american to learn that most crime stories in the news do not reflect nor impact their own individual level of safety

this is horrendous (and fortunately no one died) but how im seeing it discussed is fucking beyond goofy. like "omg first new orleans, then vegas, and now this??" not in an empathetic or insightful fashion that identifies various systemic harms but rather a individualistic, paranoid diaper explosion
BREAKING: At least 11 people shot in Queens, New York

one casualty people are not discussing is how the victims of the new orleans attack will pay their hospital bills. the US does not have universal healthcare. the bills may be in the hundreds of thousands for some of them. gunshot victims and rape survivors pay for their injuries too

the thing about guys like this fallen fetterman barnacle is that everything they do is about finding footholds of influence and attention, not any earnest or thoughtful ways to help people's lives
I don’t think his confirmation is inevitable but it’s not just about RFK because he represents a lot of people - MAHA isn’t going away if he’s rejected. If maximizing vaccine uptake is the ultimate goal (as it should be), is the best strategy to browbeat or build bridges? bsky.app/profile/dave...
And why are we starting with the assumption of his confirmation being inevitable?

20 years ago we were suing teenagers for millions of dollars because they were torrenting a single Metallica album and now billionaires are demanding the free right to every work in history, so that they can re-sell it.

The law only ever serves capital.

great news! ramos is not good and people only faintly paying attention to her recent moves may miss that fact because they mistake her past work for the type of mayor she would be
In other news: Mayoral hopeful Jessica Ramos saw just over 50% of her latest public matching funds claims denied.

The only other candidate with that high of a denial rate in the last period was Mayor Adams, who had exactly 50% of his claims tossed. www.nydailynews.com/2024/12/19/m...
Mayoral hopeful Jessica Ramos had 50% of her latest matching-funds claims denied
Queens state Sen. Jessica Ramos, who is challenging Eric Adams in June’s mayoral primary, saw around half of her latest matching-funds claims denied. Her campaign blames a software glitch.

Federal charges for the murder of a CEO, but not the murder of a migrant teen. Maybe Foucault was on to something when he said the language of the law is not universal, but rather a discourse of one class to another.
Federal prosecutors in Manhattan leveled four charges against the suspect in the fatal shooting of UnitedHealthcare’s chief executive, including a count of murder that could bring the death penalty.
U.S. Files Murder Charge Against Mangione That Could Bring Death Penalty
Federal authorities filed a total of four counts against Luigi Mangione, who is accused of killing Brian Thompson, the chief executive of UnitedHealthcare.
