Guess what - if you buy my book, Enigma and Other Aromantic Asexual Love Poems, on Bookshop.org, you’ll be supporting indie bookstores as well as a queer Jewish self-published writer 😁
Uhhh, hi! It's me, Bookshop.org, a place to buy books online where every purchase financially supports indie bookstores instead of some billionaire.
Barak loves the wizards’ castle. And he believes if he works hard enough, he’ll earn their love.

Shiri and Lior each love their respective homes, and 100% feel loved back.

Paz’s beloved place was wherever her family was, but they’re gone now.

Malka doesn’t love or feel loved any place.
Today's random #Lovember #WritingPrompt for the #WriteSky #WritingCommunity:

What's a place that your character loves?
Do they feel loved back?

#Bookvember Day 14

Sherlock Holmes will always have a special place in my heart as the first character I remember reading who scanned as aro/ace to me (I know that can be debated).

It was really important to me as a kid to see that that was a way I was allowed to be, if that makes sense?

I love fantasy and sci-fi, and the Young Wizards series is both, and High Wizardry has always stood out among that series as my favorite. Love a story about a little sister who wants to make a huge difference in the world, by being smart, kind, and believing she can do it. #Bookvember

Upon reflection, everyone in Legend of 5 is pretty fine with breaking an external rule. It’s the internal, self-imposed rules they have trouble breaking.
Tell me more about your #AwesomeCharacters

Honor or results?

If it came down to it would your character choose to maintain their honor, or would they break their oath/promise/the rules to accomplish their goal?

How would they feel about it?

Hmmmm probably brisket. A good high holiday brisket. Though I snack on chocolate chip macaroons all Passover long 😂

Over the course of Legend of 5, Shabbat, Purim, and Passover come up. The group’s a bit busy to really celebrate but they get some good Pesach food and there’s a significant Purim festival

We're headed into the holiday season, so two things to know:

- The only items in the store that are more expensive due to tariffs are: two leather bookmarks. The other 2,100 gift items and 47,000 books haven't gone up. thehauntedbookshop.com

- A trip to a local bookshop is a present in itself 📚❤️

That literally every human being deserves ample food, water, housing, and healthcare.
"my least woke opinion is---"

That's enough. We've had enough people indulging in the "thrill of a little conservatism", as a treat. Of considering reactionary thought to be a salacious and taboo in a world descending into reactionary mania.

Give me your MOST woke opinions. We're bringing it back.

need to kill the recurring thought of "no I can't replay/reread that, I have other stuff to check out"

no. I am a poor little peasant living just after the advent of the printing press. I have five books at most and I will reread them so much they will know the death of the author was caused by me

I gotta share two. Two books I wish I could reach back through time and hand to my younger self. Spinning Silver by Naomi Novik, and Technically You Started It by Lana Wood Johnston. The Jewish fantasy adventure and the demisexual coming-of-age story I truly needed. #Bookvember

Paz’s family was killed about a year ago. Their deaths rest heavy on the story.

Are there any characters that are important to your story but who haven't appeared in person on the page?

Someone historical? Or who died before the events of the story? Or someone absent for other reasons?

They all like routine, and are all facing situations that are very much not routine 😂
Tell me more about your #AwesomeCharacters

Does your character enjoy surprises? Or would they prefer that things be routine?

Would they enjoy a surprise party but prefer no dangerous surprises? Or do they crave the excitement, even when there is risk?

It’s not really an “I want to hurt the people who hurt me” thing. It’s more an “I want to make sure the people who hurt me can’t hurt anyone ever again” thing.
How does your MC feel about revenge? Is there anybody they want to take out? Do they think it would be satisfactory? #WritingPrompt

James by Percival Everett. As often happens, I read the adaptation of the classic first and it made me finally read the classic. 😂 The way Everett’s Black characters use language to navigate the world (especially to navigate the volatile emotions of white people) - brilliant, haunting, illuminating.

Here’s one I loved recently - Refusing Compulsory Sexuality by Sherronda J. Brown. Fantastically clear explanations of complicated truths, connecting experiences I’m familiar with to a whole world beyond my own. #Bookvember
