Look, not everyone who was buddy buddy with Epstein was a pedophile.

They were just okay soaking in the power and prestige and money that came with being buddy buddy with a pedophile.

Not Thump, though. No. He is totally a pedophile, like he has been openly saying he is, in public, many times...

THIS is why you should talk to your dogs, even if you think they don't understand you! 😁

We sometimes let our dogs choose the direction at trail intersections when we don't have a specific route in mind. Zeena in particular seems to perk up when we say "Zeena, which way?" and she gets to choose.

This will be my thread for thoughts while reading Disabling Intelligences by @fractalecho.bsky.social this week.

I'm all wrapped up in a fleece blanket, I have my highlighter and page flags, and on page 2 I'm already love their writing style.

Holy mother of bunnies, Vinca has actually done a retrospective of the whole shebang!
Today marks the UK release* of @tkingfisher.com's latest book Snake-Eater, which (depending on how you define it) is her 50th book of fiction! In honor of this milestone I wanted to do a little retrospective of her 50 books

Wow I'm shocked that negotiating with terrorists doesn't produce anything but more demands. It's not like the GOP has been doing this with everything for the last 20+ years or anything.

Democratic leadership are either dumb as rocks or in league with the terrorists. Either way they need to be gone.
Ppl need to understand what's happening here.

The GOP response to the shutdown was: You're gonna cave, or we're going to hurt vulnerable people by shutting off SNAP. The Dems, unwilling to let that happen, caved.

Having watched that, the GOP is now saying: "Give us what we want on abortion or ..."
NEWS: Senate Republicans are threatening to block the extension of Affordable Care Act subsidies—unless Democrats agree to tougher abortion restrictions.

He predicted it would be triggered by Bitcoin.

This is how it would work:

This is absolutely the best way I’ve ever heard North American deer described, hands down.
A small heard of 15-20 insurance claims just sitting around in the dark, staring at you, waiting.

It's lucky that our vote won't matter anymore because I will have a hard time feeling like I should bother to vote in the future for members of a party that couldn't care less about me anyway.

The Democratic party can die in a fire. I'm done with National politics.

American politics makes a lot more sense when you realize that the GOP is afraid of pissing off the GOP base, and the Dems are afraid of pissing off the GOP base, but neither party is afraid of pissing off the Dem base.

"Why do you just attack democrats? Why don't you ever go after republicans?"

Same reason I think it's necessary to warn people off an inexplicably popular restaurant that keeps giving everyone food poisoning but don't see the need to warn people off of eating directly out of an open sewer.

Yup. It's all part of the game by which the ruling class keeps us fighting over silly things like political party rather than understanding what we really need to do is end the existence of all millionaires.
Important to understand this. There's a reasonable chance that your Dem Senator who voted against it and is acting mad now was in on the play. It's the same reason why they scheduled the surrender for AFTER the election this week. They didn't want people pissed at Dems right before an election.
The caucus meeting was just to orchestrate who would fall on the sword but not be up for a vote in 2026.

Yeah, but that was before air travel was in trouble and the senators were personally affected, see
if they were going to cave anyway they should’ve done it a week ago to spare SNAP recipients the agony.

The thing to remember is that what we see as a major "win" on Tuesday is an overt threat to the ruling class.

This cave is about giving up on the people and clinging to the last vestiges of a dying economy so they can siphon off as much as possible on their way out.

Nice of the WAPO to finally notice something that has been happening for five years or more now, but it has less to do with a weak labor market or a flood of applications.

It has to do with them not actually giving a shit about job seekers, job havers, or really anyone except their shareholders.

I was at a business conference where a mother from Chicago was constantly on the phone with her daughter who was at a school about to be menaced by ICE.

"Leave. Leave now!" she was saying and had arranged someone to pick her up, then was worried until she knew her daughter was home safe.
“I want you to understand what it is like to live in Chicago during this time.”

Watched "Labyrinth" tonight because of recent discussions about weirdos creeping on Sarah, and man that movie still holds up as well today as it did when I first saw it.

Which is to say that Jareth is a creep and can definitely slink around my bedroom any time.

Even more frustrating trying to explain it to others, who are also frustrated.
“Just do it.”
-“I can’t.”
“Do you know how?”
-“Yup.”
“So why not do it‽”
-“I just can’t!”

It’s like being asked to wag a tail you don’t have. Yeah, I get how it works, but I still can’t do it.
