If I've said it once, I've said it a single time.
Never. lmao

There are sexual predators at all levels of government, in our media (both "news" and entertainment), and they are all backed by billions of dollars earmarked for their continued subservience to billionaires. They will never be dealt with en masse through any sort of legal proceeding.
At what point does the New York Times get charged as organizationally conspiring to abet human trafficking of minors.

This does not show that at all. It's a Reddit post, so it's not evidence of anything, but even if it were, it doesn't provide evidence of any cumulative effect of repeated infection; it just suggests that it's possible.
This person was infected with COVID twice and recovered. A 3rd infection brought manageable long COVID symptoms, but they were still able to work. After a 4th infection a few months ago, they haven’t recovered at all — showing how repeated infections can cause severe, lasting damage.

A somewhat amusing and petty (assuming it was intentional) browser thing. I'm using Waterfox, and every website I've visited finishes the URL when I begin typing it - except GMail. These are just some of the examples.

@waterfox.net I do like the browser.

I'm imagining a hydra, but each head has a smaller head dangling further down.
Sorry guys but patriarchy is an infinite hydra and if you haven’t figured that out yet there’s no hope for you

You may not like it, but this is scientifically the design safest for pedestrians while doing 65 in a school zone. The tip coming to a singular point reduces the likelihood of a direct collision by 98%, and any direct hit on a pedestrian safely secures them at the front until the vehicle stops.

Catharsis is quite literally about happiness, intrinsically linked to happiness. Things are cathartic because they give you relief from the things making you deeply unhappy, allowing you to then find some happiness. What are you even talking about, dude?
as someone says in the replies, there’s a difference between narratives you find PLEASANT and narratives you find VALIDATING. many people are quite attached to dark, terrifying, pessimistic views of the world and find it validating when those views are reinforced. it’s about catharsis not happiness
Actually, no: i've been reading narratives that scare the shit out of me.

And I would be happy to be wrong about everything.

Seriously, what the fuck have you been reading?

There's a type of person that makes any given thing immediately tedious to talk about, once it becomes something they have reason to talk about, and it is entirely what Bluesky pushes in the Discover tab.

Senate Dems are out here posting noise like "omg the Senate GOP just voted against healthcare subsidies and are trying to sneak a bunch of terrible shit into the funding bill" — and people are flooding their mentions with "bitch, please, GTFOH"

Never seen such a dramatic swing in political momentum

We're debating on the government funding package right now and every single Republican voted against a Democratic amendment to pass a clean, one-year extension of the ACA tax credits.

Republicans just don't care about your health care.

These politicians will make firm statement re:political violence against people like Kirk frame 1 after something happens, but make citizen rights and welfare take a backseat every single time.

Let us take a moment and consider why there is ... lopsided urgency between these things.

Take note of how all these spam donation posts are now disabling comments and quote retweets, in order to prevent people from seeing them from *also* seeing people telling them that you should not trust them. @bsky.app @safety.bsky.app @support.bsky.team Implement some basic anti-spam measures?

MMO quest design is so buns, man. It's wild to me that whether you play an MMO from 20 years ago or one from a year ago, quest design has seemingly not evolved at all in that time.

I've seen lots of examples over the years where it seems like devs were not good enough at their own game to...

Today, Speaker Emeritus Nancy Pelosi announced that she will not seek reelection and is retiring at the end of her term.

From her time working with Harvey Milk in San Francisco to her tenure as the first female Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi is the definition of a champion for equality.

Bluesky moderation is still not doing anything about the slew of clearly compromised accounts sharing the same scam donation links for injured dogs and whatnot. The accounts are copypasting the same plea and this is somehow beyond the capabilities of a multimillion dollar social media site.

"A year of public debate" is ... one way to frame it. It's certainly not the sort of thing you say when you're being intellectually dishonest to people in hopes that nobody remembers anything.

They lied, got the media (news and entertainment) to circulate the lie, and proceeded to murder.
Say what will you will about Dick Cheney (no really, say it), but at least the runup to the Iraq War was treated as a major event that received a year of public debate.

Trump might decide to invade Venezuela and loot its natural resources on a whim, while the press gives it below-the-fold billing.
"The support for the more aggressive options is coming from Secretary of State Marco Rubio, who is also the acting national security adviser, and Stephen Miller, Mr. Trump’s deputy chief of staff and homeland security adviser."

It's a pretty fucking stupid argument is the point. Do you feel like an insane person arguing that the Iraq war was legitimate? Because you should.

It’s fascinating to watch an NPR writer playact at sincerity. A self-styled adult willing to condescendingly crouch down to level with the kids who, golly, just don’t understand.

While being unable to describe Cuomo’s profoundly fucked-up behavior during tue pandemic as mere “mishandling”.
There is absolutely no doubt that Cuomo often angered progressives. And his political career unraveled with numerous allegations of sexual harassment misconduct and mishandling of COVID cases. Those are real issues and it's logical for people to examine them and take them very seriously. 8/

funny thread
Thread: Look I know it's easier cognitively to just have good guys and villains, but a lot of you folks are just not dealing in facts. Andrew Cuomo was a centrist, sure, and he fought a lot with Democrats. But he also pushed some of the most progressive state policies of his era. A partial list. 1/
