The thing about not “splashing money around” and still managing to compete is one thing but the reason it breeds discontent is that it ALWAYS feels like the team left meat on the bone every time any trophy goes to someone else. I’m not saying that’s rational, but it is how it is

Worth remembering that while sell-on clauses can be a real boon, every percentage point you get in a sell-on fee basically makes it that much less likely a future sale for the player will ever materialize outside of a release clause situation

Sounders aren’t going to even entertain selling Georgi unless they get to like $4M. Why would they? It wouldn’t result in any additional GAM, meaning they would lose a piece and be unable to improve the team. At some point the the offer is enough that it’s impossible to say no to, but $1-2M ain’t it
The Sounders maxed out their allocation money they can convert from sales this year already. I’d much rather have Georgi than no Georgi and $3 million cash that goes into the black hole of club finances. Spend some of the $9 mil in the bank from the CWC before shipping off a player for cash.
Hammarby is apparently interested in Georgi Minoungou. I think they’d likely need to set a transfer record to get him but they have made like $25m on outbound transfers in last year.

Sounders will unveil their 2026 primary jersey tomorrow. I’m told they will NOT be using the third-kit they unveiled last year, as those are only intended for single-season use.
