This is how you cause good trouble, a group of protesters peacefully protesting a fundraiser for MAGA Republican Mike Lawler (R-NY). Watch how Lawler’s supporters react and they say Democrats are the snowflakes! Cry harder, MAGA tears are delicious!

This is a highly under-appreciated and underdiscussed aspect of why the 🇺🇸 oligarchy hates the idea of universal healthcare.

We are beyond the inflection point with respect to corporate leaders and legacy media.

The good news is that independent outlets like @thebulwark.bsky.social, @bolts.bsky.social, @moreperfectunion.bsky.social and @democracydocket.com are each, in their own way, filling the gap as best they can.
ABC’s settlement with Trump feels like it could be an inflection point in the Orbanization of our politics.

I hope it isn’t.

I updated this due to an astute follower pointing out that Alabama changed their laws to have off year local elections as well. That's a lot of races in 2025 in some 31 states! Local elections matter! Get involved! Send a message! This doesn't even include a bunch of special elections happening now!

🧵12 years ago today, my 20-year-old neighbor killed his mom at home then used an AR-15 to hunt & murder 20 first graders & 6 educators at Sandy Hook Elementary School. Since that heart shattering day, many of us from the community formed @newtownaction.bsky.social to prevent another tragedy.

As a baseball fan, I find it interesting that Soto’s contract ($765M) is eliciting more outrage than FOX’s settlement ($787.5M) with Dominion did.

This is absolutely amazing…
Piers Morgan asked Antichrist Peter Thiel what he would say to people who celebrated Luigi Mangione — who was a fan of Peter Thiel & Elon Musk — for murdering an insurance CEO.

If someone can find a worse answer to any question, I’d love to see it. This is excruciating.

Actually, sentiment and bias analysis have been around for a while. If we can get the @latimes.com reporters to post their stories on @bsky.app , with the open firehose, any academic or researcher can analyze everything they post.

And nothing will ever be as bad as the cuecat!
This, courtesy of the owner of the LA Times, is the worst “tech solution for journalism” idea since the CueCat.

I am thankful for a social media site that’s not run by disinformation-pushing maniacal billionaire, not controlled by an algorithm design to censor news and much-needed debate, and not overrun by mean-spirited people who encourage and celebrate ignorance. Thankful, indeed.

no offense but i’d pay bluesky a small amount of every month compared to not doing it for twitter because elon musk is evil and so far bluesky hasn’t been evil. not having any ads on here at all has been a major reason why this platform rocks too and i’d contribute a little to keep it that way
Bluesky will be launching a subscription service by the end of the year. There are no details yet on how many tiers. Premium tiers will likely include higher-resolution pics, more/longer video uploads, and profile/page customization aesthetics. Longer term, there's a monetization plan for creators.

One thing I find interesting about the echo chamber complaint is that an echo chamber just won a presidential election.

Put aside the convo of whether it’s “good” or “bad” for a moment. The far right has devoted enormous resources + time to building echo chambers & loathes spaces they don’t control
The "bluesky is an echo chamber" think pieces that keep popping up really tickle me because they show how certain people genuinely believe social media should be for debating and arguing and not talking about the things that make you happy and sharing art with the world.
