Rony Islam on lessons learned from car-free Lincoln: "Not everyone may be persuaded – even when presented w/ data & pilots – but I’ve had countless conversations w/ neighbors whose perspectives shifted once they saw what was possible."

Community spaces where neighbors, friends, and family spend time together and share joy should be plentiful. We believe open streets belong in every neighborhood in Chicago.

It's good for our people. It's good for our communities. It's good for our city.

Lincoln Square open to the people was so joyous. Don't be discouraged by car brained reactionaries. The street was consistently crowded with children playing/laughing, adults drinking/eating/shopping, and smart buisnesses capitalizing on the crowd.

Lincoln Square’s got history, heart—and a housing crisis. Deconversions are erasing homes, and outdated laws make it too hard to build.

On a walk with Walking Chicago, I even ran into @slowstreets.org advocates to talk safer, more walkable neighborhoods. Time for new, energetic leadership.
