Qld, like Tasmania, has not learned that letting the gun lobby write gun laws is akin to letting the tobacco, lead, asbestos etc industries write the rules that regulate them. If evidence is needed, look at the laws the gun lobby delivered to Tas before the Port Arthur massacre #guncontrolaustralia

The only redeeming feature of Herzog’s visit was the opportunity for peaceful protest. Minns has made a blunder. Peaceful protest is the essence of democracy, and Herzog as representative of the State of Israel should feel the clear message from many in the Australian community.

Thirteen state and federal NSW MPs appeal to police to allow planned march protesting against the visit

Compare & contrast. This is Trump’s demand for Greenland. And this is Hitler’s for the Sudetenland.

There is no difference. The language. The unstoppable need to dominate. The megalomania. It’s the same.

And Keir Starmer’s response is appeasement. We are in that moment.

Ahead of Day 3 of the "pink test"

In 2022-23 the McGrath foundation spent about $8.8m on “foundation-funded breast care nurses”, but more than $9.1m on fundraising and marketing, and a further $2.2m on administration."

This story shows that while WA has new gun limits (from March 2025), they may be too high, and there’s still questions about enforcement of gun limits. And limits on ammunition purchases as a reform issue must be taken seriously. #guncontrolaustralia

Albanese and Labor could barely have been more supportive of Israel, or less sympathetic of the Palestinian civilians massacred and starved. Did that satisfy News Corp? Not even.
And now he invites the president of the genocidal state to visit. Does he think they will lay off now?
Ofc they won’t. 🤡
When do you think Albanese will realise there’s no placating these people? News Corp pays no tax and adds nothing to Aus society apart from hate, but Labor acts as if it owns them.
Instead of fighting back or standing up for themselves, Albanese and co are like “please sir can I have some more?”

We already pay as much rent as mainlanders, food is more expensive and wages are lower. Going to big events isn’t possible for most. We’re becoming one of those tourism destinations where the locals can’t afford to do anything. The stadium will massively accelerate that process.

#politas #auspol
Tasmania is about to enter a period of fiscal austerity it hasn't experienced before. Hospitality businesses near the stadium are expecting some sort of economic nirvana. They better hope mainlanders are cashed up. Tasmanians using the stadium will be lucky to afford a packet of chips. #politas
