It’s not over but when it is I will never, ever forget the “serious people” who buckled and compromised and abetted the torture and crime and murder for a fascist lottery ticket.
I think the core point is that trump had a honeymoon in which capital/media/political opposition all decided he was the one true voice of america. he did a lot of horrible things with that (including murdering 100s of thousands), but didn't consolidate power...

BREAKING: At Pope Leo XIV’s urging, U.S. Catholic bishops just delivered the strongest rebuke of a sitting president in Church history — condemning Trump-Vance raids as “inhumane” and “dehumanizing” in a 216–5 vote.
NEW: At Pope Leo’s Urging, Bishops Issue Historic Rebuke of Trump’s Raids

Sometimes people hate on @nytimes.com because they think that it whiffs coverage of right-wing scandals.
But you will notice that it is NOT on that list.

I've long thought that everyone should read the Times. Even when it makes mistakes or annoys you. It is irreplaceable.

As @rbreich.bsky.social notes billionaires and their families own X, Paramount, CBS, Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, the Washington Post, Amazon, MGM, Fox News, the Wall Street Journal and New York Post, and could soon own Warner Bros and CNN

And they are all Trump supporters

This is America today. It doesn’t have to be this way.

One of those goons was a female. The soon to be “disappeared” individual already had hands restrained behind his back.
In Houston, Texas, ICE GOONS forcefully slammed a man headfirst onto the ground while attempting to violently stuff him into the back of an unmarked vehicle. (Date: November 9, 2025)

That's a dead man walking.

The right side of his face, just hanging there whilst he's talking, is much more noticeable in interviews now.

You can hear him slurring his words.

If Chuck Schumer was a stronger leader, he would have been able to convince most of these senators to hold the line.

I’m terribly disappointed in him.

The average SNAP benefit per month is $177 a person.

The average ACA benefit per month is up to $550 a person.

People want us to hold the line for a reason. This is not a matter of appealing to a base. It’s about people’s lives.

And working people want leaders whose word means something to them.

Apparently, NY Times rates you as a “moderate Republican” if you consistently and publicly express concerns, but then vote full MAGA, anyway.
The NY Times published an editorial citing Susan Collin as "a moderate Republican." Collins is a reliable vote for Trump's agenda, has voted against democracy at every turn and supported extremist judges.

This is why people are abandoning legacy media--even while enjoying games, puzzles & recipes.
