I just want to ask, to what end ? Why all this cost-cutting? Where are the savings going? What are we building instead? Why do I not see this question asked in every article ?

Spot on. This is the clearest explanation I’ve seen. It ‘s relatable, and humanizes the issue in a way everyone can understand.

🚨 There’s a lot of horrific news out of Washington right now—but you might have missed this: Senate Republicans just introduced a plan to sell off 120 million acres of our public lands.

Let me break down what’s in the bill and why it’s a full-scale land grab. 🧵

I've quoted this passage from Trump -- where he states his intent to cause riots and US economic collapse -- so many times. He flat-out announced it on Fox News in February 2014. In my book HIDING IN PLAIN SIGHT I quote my own 2016 essay warning of his plan:

My God.

ICE wrongfully arrested a man while his 5-year-old autistic child sat in the backseat—and shipped him off to an El Salvador prison. No due process. Now the Trump administration claims they can’t get him back.

How many more?

THIS NEEDS TO BE A BIGGER STORY.

This is the most wretched campaign of deliberate, explicit persecution the United States has perpetrated against a minority group in decades. Many of the most important people in politics and journalism are busying themselves trying to figure out how little to say or do about it.

In this day and age, living in a place that
- you like,
- you can afford,
- you can find a job,
- you have family/friends,
- you feel safe, and
- you *are* safe from natural disasters/bad laws/worse

is luxury and privilege. Almost no one gets to check all the boxes.

So maybe don’t be an asshole.
