A nice obituary for Alice, who was going to be recognized as one of The Post 50.

I hate that we now have to live without this phenomenal woman.

I also have no nostalgia for the road to fascism, which is a trap I think a lot of liberal and progressive folks are falling into—romanticizing the conditions that preceded this moment of acceleration. The path that led to this mess is not the way out.

@prisonculture.bsky.social and I have been encouraging people to read chapter six of our book, Let This Radicalize You, which deals with the question of "violence" in social movements. We have decided to share the chapter publicly, to offer some context and grounding for the current conversation.

Yes, this is unquestionably, hideously monstrous.

It's also not great to say the same about covid, which many tacitly are doing by ignoring that it is very much still a thing.

Those still masking are not overreacting - we're stepping up for community health as the government leaves us to die.
RFK Jr talking about the need for doctors to know how to treat measles for those who are unvaccinated.

“Only very sick kids should die from measles.”

No. They shouldn’t. That was the point of the vaccine. We eradicated the virus so children didn’t die.

Sick & disabled kids are not expendable!

Masking discourse is on again and I’ll just say if you see people masking when few others are it’s likely because they’ve determined that for them, in that setting, the benefit of not catching (or spreading) whatever’s going around is worth the cost of masking. It’s rarely more complicated than that

Susan Crawford wins the Wisconsin Supreme Court election, according to many election analysts.

This after Elon Musk and others poured millions into anti-transgender advertisements in the state.

The anti-trans panic failed in Wisconsin.

This is a major victory for LGBTQ+ people in the state.

When people talk about the "descent into fascism" there's a passive voice that misses that with every prison built, every budget dollar to police, every bomb paid for and dropped on Gaza, every student sanctioned for protest, every deportation, every border patrol, we laid the bricks one by one.
