Batman Forever has Flaming Lips, Method Man, Nick Cave, Brandy, Sunny Day Real Estate, PJ Harvey, Seal it was goddamn WILD how good it was. It was like college radio DJ 1995 makes a soundtrack
they used to make real soundtracks for a movie

Things I definitely did not have on my 2025 bingo card: that I would be digging the Pope like an old soul record.
Some inspiring words on cinema in the streaming era from the Pope.

Yes, THAT Pope.

It's Friday, folks. Embrace your loved ones, pet the furry companions, ice up a cold one if that's your thing. Put on a movie. You deserve it. Above all, be glad you're not bitter and orange, and you have a life of happiness instead.

I've been corrected: my annual flower surprise is a narcissus, not a paperwhite. That one tiny bloom has such a strong scent, you can almost taste it. It's like birthday cake and honey.

This tiny thing made it through a badass of a storm two nights ago and managed to hang on to all its petals. It absolutely made my day.

I've been sick with Something Icky for a solid week now, a mildly feverish, lingering hack kind of rot. I ventured outside today to get a lungful of fresh air and saw that my annual winter surprise - a highly fragranced paperwhite flower - has bloomed in the wine cask in the yard.

A smack of jellies, squadron of pelicans, raft of otters, or galaxy of sea stars...

No matter your favorite collective noun, these groups of animals are a force to be reckoned with when they come together—a simple reminder of the beauty that blooms in community and the strength that grows in unity.

I see the “technically it’s ephebophelia” crowd is out today, so just a reminder that A) this is NOT a case where technically correct is the best kind of correct and B) the minute you say this, the gods dump you in the “irredeemable creeper” basket and wash their hands thoroughly after touching you.

It’s wild to suggest this is a circular firing squad or something when it’s millions of citizen Democrats who hate it versus 47 elected Democrats who conspired to surrender for nothing.

We’re not fighting “each other,” we’re fighting you. There’s only a few dozen of you, but you hold all the power.
But there are real dangers out there that must be fought; and energy spent fighting each other is energy lost to that bigger fight.
