hi guys I know I haven't been very active lately, and I don't talk about where I'm from often, but the government made some really scary announcements today so I thought I'd share to let everyone know what's happening. here are some posts from twt for context

I thought giant monopolistic companies would just continue to lock down their software to make it impossible to not rent from them to use their ecosystem - not that they'd just buy the entire hardware supply so you can't do personal computing lol

Honestly, AI slop PRs are becoming increasingly draining and demoralizing for #Godot maintainers.

If you want to help, more funding so we can pay more maintainers to deal with the slop (on top of everything we do already) is the only viable solution I can think of:

fund.godotengine.org
Godot's GitHub has increasingly many pull requests generated by LLMs and it's a MASSIVE time waster for reviewers – especially if people don't disclose it. Changes often make no sense, descriptions are extremely verbose, users don't understand their own changes… It's a total shitshow. #godotengine

All these guys had a good idea or a well-funded idea or a bad idea that somehow took off anyway back the last time pants were really big, and now we'll never get rid of them
Valve is generally good about keeping quiet and not letting any shit takes out to poison their rep, but even Gabe couldn't help himself with this

I'm late to this essay too. I'm getting tired of the assumption that this tech can be separated from the companies producing it and all the harms that go into its design/implementation. If you could, it would be a different tech entirely rather than simply an "ethical" parallel of what we have now

This tracks with my experience. Shockingly easy transition if that’s what’s holding you back.
TL;DR Unity -> Godot transition: after 13 years in unity, it took me 4-6 weeks of getting adjusted, and now i’ll never go back. it has quirks, like other engines. there’s bugs. but it’s free, basically equally capable, and well reported issues get fixed quicker than in unity (sometimes within hours)

This exactly. I see too many leftists acting like this and it's really bugging me. Do you not see what it's doing to our world?
"using ai in a leftist way to achieve communist fully automated luxury perfect utopia" you are literally boromir drooling over the idea of using the One Ring. it's a little imp that's destroying the very concept of Shared Reality and you're like "what if we can use it to automate emails better"
