I’m not exactly anti-borders, as I recognise there is a theoretical point where immigration numbers present a logistical challenge, but I straight up do not understand the mindset that doesn’t take pride in people choosing to live in your country

This is a horrible policy, and a complete capitulation to the ugliest forces behind Reform's popularity
This is as bad as anything proposed by Reform.

Leaving refugees in permanent limbo and unable to build a new life in the UK would be a complete abdication of our humanitarian responsibilities

UK set to limit refugees to temporary stays
Shabana Mahmood is expected to say the era of permanent protection for refugees is over, in major changes to the UK's asylum and immigration system.

Minded to think the market (etc) reaction will end up causing them to have to u-u-turn. Quite an achievement to u-turn (repeatedly) on your budget before the budget

The clever thing about going for stuff like the cycle for work scheme is it’s really noticeable, affects people with lots of media access and platforms, annoys green groups, and raises almost no revenue at the same time. Real win/win/win there.

NEW | No growth for fossil fuels in global electricity generation expected in 2025 🔥❌

Ember forecasts no increase in fossil generation as wind and solar are growing fast enough to meet all new electricity demand.

We definitely need some solutions that make vested interests unhappy
I totally agree about homeless families, but there are still many many places free to build. And I’m totally aware of the desperate need for affordable and more importantly, social housing. I just feel that with this situation a solution should be found that makes everyone happy.

Even if this garden were destroyed in order to create *an entire new town* that would surely be a price worth paying. But Jonn's point that the "threat" is just to the view makes this a disgustingly out of touch point if view
Important to be clear here that the proposed homes wouldn't mean demolishing the 18th century garden - it's just that they might possibly be visible from it. What appallingly selfish behaviour.

I feel like we have the opportunity to turn David Lynch's quote into this moment's "Keep Calm and Carry On" and it's a far better rallying cry too.

We’re so happy to see Overboard being re brewed by our friends @elusivebrewing.com! Go get your can while it last!
For our new collab with Henry at @sunkenknave.bsky.social we leaned upon a traditional Old Ale recipe incorporating some modern ingredients to make this comforting and decadent beer.

Expect notes of dark fruits and toasty malts with a hint of raisin: www.elusivebrewing.com/bottled-prod...
