I was just asked for my phone (to swipe the outside for whatever) for the 1st time during a “random” TSA extra screening for a domestic flight - i told them i didn’t consent to a search of the phone, made sure there were no notifications visible & it was locked and didn’t let it out of my sight…

This happens every year, it seems. The SFWA awards a writer the Grand Master Award, and if that writer is not a white male, a portion of the fanbase begins complaining vociferously about the award winner.

I was laid off in the spring and applied for SNAP benefits. It took over six months to finally get approved for $60 a month. By the time I was approved, I’d found a new job and didn’t need the benefits. I also live alone; feeding myself wasn’t a big issue. That won’t be the case with many recipients

144 I love this novel’s sweep, time-shifting from a Korean father’s 1978 drowning to his childhood in Japan, his family drawn to N Korea, & his American wife and daughter’s lives before & after his disappearance. Knowing a little history prepared me for the twist, but that’s not a drawback. #bluesky
