Most definitely. Will work for him in keeping the files from being released as they will continue the "investigation" in perpetuity. Won't work for him politically, and would result in him losing the House next year. But Part B of the plan is creating some disaster and calling off the election.
How it probably happened:

Trump: I can’t make this Epstein mess go away. Even some republicans are starting to cave. Ungrateful cowards. What would they do without me and my rich friends?

Bondi: It will not come to that.

Also, House reopens & Congresswoman-elect Grijalva presumably gets sworn in. Huge win as presumably a vote on releasing Epstein files soon follows. It is key that this happens before the TN special election in early December. For this reason, I think Trump manufactures a reason not to sign any deal.
This promise is worthless but I understand the politics of it. This leaves all the damage at the feet of Republicans going into the midterms. Well played Democrats. Well played.
The deal would include a promised vote on extending Obamacare tax credits in December, the sources said. It could also include some kind of language to help federal workers who have been laid off under the shutdown.

To put this in scale, Elon Musk's salary from Tesla alone could fund the SNAP program for the entire country into 2034.

If Musk meets all the benchmarks of his new $1 trillion pay package from Tesla he will be paid $274 MILLION EVERY DAY FOR THE NEXT 10 YEARS

I don't think people realize how much a trillion dollars is.

Let's say you get paid a million dollars per day. That's a lot, right?

If you spend none of it and pay no taxes, you'll have a trillion dollars in approximately two thousand seven hundred (2700) YEARS.

No one should have that much.

At Menards hardware store in Cicero, IL

It's a major hardware chain throughout the Midwest.

Look at Trump's masked thugs shattering the truck windows and dragging a man off to an unmarked car.

Menards told employees to delete any videos they took of the ICE raid—or they would be fired.

At least w "grab 'em by the pussy" he didn't intend to publicize it (still disgusting though). But this was purposefully posted, intended to be seen. Listen everyone, character matters, and if you're someone who accepts his lack of normal, moral, ethical character, then it is time to question yours.

The World Cup and Olympics should boycott the U.S. rather than let their events be used as weapons by the fascist Trump. They won't, of course, because of their own corruption. But they must realize this is shaping up to look like the 1936 Berlin Olympics.

Yes, please publish the list. Thanks for doing that.
We need to boycott all the Sinclair NextStar advertisers.

I’ll watch so you don’t have to to provide the list of advertisers

Just in from mainstream America: Beginning Tuesday night soon-to-be former Sinclair viewers will preempt watching Sinclair and will instead commence boycotting their advertisers and watching anything else but Sinclair programming.
This just in from Sinclair: "Beginning Tuesday night Sinclair will be preempting 'Jimmy Kimmel Live!' across our ABC affiliate stations and replacing it with news programming. Discussions with ABC are ongoing as we evaluate the show's potential return."

Perhaps, but very dangerous to ascribe too much weight to "might be." Can't rely just on enough people turning against him fast enough to fend off the end of democracy.
Donald Trump is gambling that he can consolidate authority before the public turns too sharply against him, argues @davidfrum.bsky.social: https://theatln.tc/WVxHWOOI

It was super hard to cancel our Disney+ subscription. It took an hour. Apparently, that wasn't a uniques experience. Now that Kimmel's been un-suspended, I'm sure some will choose to re-subscribe - a likely simple, one-click process. We'll re-subscribe, but only if there's a "we were wrong" apology.
they boutta find out how hard it is to get people to resubscribe once they cancel a service

I've decided to give Disney the weekend. A reversal and an apology or admission that what they did was wrong. All speech must be protected, not just the speech I like.
