Cynicism is a Superpower

“Of what is great one must either be silent or speak with greatness. With greatness--that means cynically and with innocence.”

The five points:

1. We prefer symbolism over substance.
2. We prefer giving money to blood.
3. We are not prepared to fight a war because we've ignored our military for half a century.
4. We can't even get our own house in order.
5. If we wish hard enough, Putin will go away.
🇪🇺🇺🇦 Work on the “Prosperity Package” for Ukraine is almost complete, — Ursula von der Leyen

The document is based on a needs assessment conducted by the World Bank and contains five main points.

The President of the European Commission listed them:

At least the costumes look appropriate for the condition of the European military in 2026.

See what 50 years of freeloading in NATO buys you?
The cover of Germany’s Der Spiegel reads: “Donald, enough!”

It looks like a meme.

What fresh hell is this? Reserved seating in theaters?

I have never been so glad I walked away from Hollywood as I am today.
If you want to see the Melania doc tomorrow night in New York City ... um, let's just say you have a lot of choices

How do they know someone didn't just stick the bottle up their ass for kicks? That still happens in 2026. 🤔
Did Roman doctors really use feces in a medicinal capacity? 💩 Seems so.

That's simply proper vetting. If you don't ask, they don't tell. That he's trying to play it for points says a lot.

As an Independent, I can't vote in primaries because I live in a closed state. If I could, my vote right now would be for Mark Kelly.
I remain perplexed by Shapiro's apparent belief that attacking Kamala Harris, and on an issue where Shapiro is incredibly out of step with his party's base, will somehow catapult him to the presidency.

Not all heroes carry rifles.
🛠️ State Emergency Service divers carried out a six-day underwater operation in temperatures down to –15°C after a Russian strike. One of Kyiv’s CHP plants was flooded due to a damaged pipe, complicating repairs. The leak was stopped, allowing restoration work to continue.

This is why I give money to Wikipedia.
Trump has removed signs at George Washington’s house in Philadelphia that inform the public about the history of slavery and signs at Fort Sumter that inform the public that the fort is at risk due to climate change.

Because history and science are like COVID: If you ignore them, they go away.

I dunno Uncle Billy. I'm kind of hoping for the ending of "Debt of Honor" as the best option we have right now.
One way to look at the infighting among liberal/progressive/left people is that we have an American Party and a Global Fascism Party, and that choice is 100% about morality.

All decent people in the U.S. have political choices that lie within the Dem Party, and of course there will be differences.

This is the most uplifting, hopeful photograph I've seen in quite some time.
This is getting very, very bad, and quickly worse.

Excuse me, sir? I would like to import some of this energy into the USA. Where may I inquire?
Help us make hope normal again.

This woman is going to walk because of this extrajudicial and prejudicial statement by a party to the case. And I'm going to laugh my fucking ass off.

Bonus points if the White House counsel gets disbarred.

It's hilarious to see all the movie pundits and and reporters fawning over F1, saying "It's an original story, that's why it deserves a place in the Oscars"... Because clearly people can't remember all the way back to 2001.

Why, it's almost like they're reading a script written by a PR firm. 🤔

Why, that's just 31,464 hours since the invasion started!

So glad they got right on the problem. Imagine if they had hemmed and hawed and dragged their feet!

Put the fucking talk on the internet then, like everybody else.
California was just denied at the USA House. Last we checked, California is part of USA.
EXCLUSIVE: Newsom was informed at the 11th hour that his Davos talk was canceled. His administration claims the State Department played a hand.

And I wonder why people keep consuming their media.

STOP. Vote with your wallet and your conscience.

It seems like every day. Mark Carney is kissing a new ass. Who will it be tomorrow?
As great powers abandon rules and values for their own interests, middle powers like Canada have a choice: compete with each other for favour or act together with impact.

Again, less fucking talk, more goddam action.

Stop giving these people air time if all they're going to do is talk.
Crow: I’m concerned about the president destroying our alliances, destroying our economy, destroying working class Americans' livelihoods… this president is destroying everything that he touches

How do you think your kissing Xi Jinping's ass plays with the NATO crowd?

You have no rudder. Get a goddam rudder.
Met with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte in Davos earlier today.

We talked about the tests NATO is facing, and Canada’s resolute support for the Alliance. We’re quadrupling our defence spending — including scaling up our investments in Arctic security to defend the northwestern flank.
