There’s a reason they shut down so-called “cancel culture” and it’s not because it went too far. Looking at the list of email contacts from Epstein, for example, shows that the culture of abuse of power and position spreads far & wide, including to the newspapers writing disparaging opEds on “woke”

The BBC story is infuriating. Yes, editorial errors were made. Newspapers make them ALL the time and, of course, there should be consequences. But the real job of oversight at the BBC is to protect public service broadcasting from forces that (transparently) do not want it to exist. Tell that story!

It’s sad to see what’s happened at Teen Vogue, which gave young people a political voice and, even if YOU think they were at times off the mark or too worthy, that was important. I guess Vogue can go back to bring “aspirational” so long as your aspirations don’t upset your billionaire overlords.

It would be very “Ireland: the home of Halloween” if we elected a zombie president. Again.
Jim Gavin may have pulled out of the campaign, but he is still a candidate in the presidential election, whether he likes it or not.

Fianna Fáil’s zombie candidate remains in the race, at least on paper.

So what happens if you cast your vote for Gavin?

I'm so sad to read this. Manchán was one of a kind. An incredible writer and storyteller.

A warm and fascinating person with a great sense of adventure, brilliant mind, and a deep ghrá for our landscape, folklore, and language.

He had so much more to give. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam.

I’m so sad to hear about the death of the marvellous Jane Goodall. She lived a long and good life.
I actually met her many years ago when I worked on a project in Canada raising funds for her work. She seemed old then. (Turns out she was the age I am now!).

Today’s entertainment is watching people lose their minds over the new Harry Lambert for Disney range at Zara. “These aren’t clothes for men”, they rage as they run out the door, having had their very essence challenged by a few colourful stripes and a fancy collar.
