His podcast is (as is this article) as wonderful as you expect. Heartily recommended.

Post you from a different era.

At the Charlatans in Manchester. Roller skate skinny, still not shaving properly and possibly the best hair of may career.

With in an hour of this being taken Johnny Marr made a surprise appearance and I literally, literally, squealed in delight.

"Stuart went to Germany with a Liverpool skiffle group"

Fascinating that Sutcliffe's death made the front pages of the news. And bittersweet that the reporting was the only time it would be for his own achievements rather than a footnote to what was about to change everything.

Just managed to wangle a ticket for this, and just I got the confirmation the new Comet Gain 45 got pushed through my letter box. It's like some sort of indiepop Goodnight Sweetheart.

Two vital lessons from this story:

✅ never agree to a police interview without legal representation, even if officers claim they are unable to reach a solicitor, and

✅ never accept a caution to secure release, as it's an admission of guilt

My favourite one like this is Don Henley getting Brian to autograph a copy of Pet Sounds. Brian signed it "thanks for all the great music" then thought for a second, crossed out "great", and wrote "good"
My favourite Brian Wilson story was when Bono kneeled at his feet backstage & waxed lyrical about his influence, the power of music, transcendent, etc.
After several minutes of this he interrupted Bono by saying “Say, could you go get me a Coke?”
(In fairness, he apparently did)
