People love bipartisanship. But mostly when it means the other party comes crawling to do what they want
Unfortunately, Americans as a whole have quasi-religious devotion for the sacred principle of bipartisanship.

"Tzefardea Tzedek" (Frog of Righteousness)
As soon as the Portland Frog became a meme, Jewish social media blew up with jokes about the 2nd Passover plague - tzefarde'a (frogs) - and the Rabbinical commentary around it. I knew I had to make a calligraphy piece encompassing all of it. (more in alt.)

Lot of people are going to take Ls on Platner because admitting not just that they were wrong about a guy they didn't know is hard, but acknowledging the party was right not to back him even if you don't like who they did back will be impossible.

In which John Oliver methodically unpacks how thin it is to claim you’re all about “the truth” when you’re only running essays don’t get properly fact-checked — and don’t hold up to even basic reporting scrutiny www.youtube.com/watch?v=gieT...

one thing I’m pondering, and I don’t know if I can describe it very well, is what feels like a very Chicago Catholic energy around separating CHURCH conservatism from POLITICAL conservativism, which the trads and the sedevacantists across the asshole spectrum from JD Vance to Cardinal Dolan conflate

The Trump administration’s tariff regime and the elimination of fee exemptions for items under $800 is limiting resource sharing between university libraries, trapping some books in foreign countries, and reversing long-held standards in academic cooperation.

Libraries have shared their collections internationally for decades. Trump’s tariffs are throwing that system into chaos and can ‘hinder academic progress.’

It’s official: EA is going private.
The leveraged buyout will be financed by a staggering $20 billion of debt, which likely means some *aggressive* cost cutting is ahead for EA in the coming months and years.

Missouri’s referendum on minimum wage and paid sick leave last year won by a margin of 58 to 42 percent statewide. Under a proposal advanced by the GOP, it would have failed because it didn’t win more than 50 percent in every congressional district.

I find it actually quite grim that ww1 was such an improvement in quality of life that actually people liked it.
As far as seeing another country goes a lot of ANZACs loved being in Cairo for training and later France when fighting (they didn't exactly see a lot of Turkiye).

If you were a working class soldier you were very likely getting the best, most regular food of your life in the war, as well as medical attention - and seeing a foreign country. And by and large there was a lot of belief in the national cause - especially, after the war, among the victors.
