It's extremely unpopular and it does lead to politicians getting insulated from "real" problems but not paying them means you have to be independently wealthy or corrupt (or both) to apply and that's worse

Genuinely you gotta pay politicians more. My gast was flabbered when I learned state government oftens takes years off in the US because it's practically unpaid
