Imagine a country’s leader declared intentions to prosecute their enemies for defeating them in an election. The largest news outlet in any country would report it as authoritarianism.

As Trump took to an international stage to do just that, our legacy media stayed silent, Marc Elias writes.
Donald Trump just announced breaking news. The legacy media ignored it.

For years, we have been lectured on the importance of major news outlets — about how their integrity prevents our democracy from dying in darkness. Yet Donald Trump just stood on a well-lit global stage and declared his intention to abuse the criminal justice system to destroy electoral democracy.

Another day, another outrage; ICE under Trump is going to deport dozens of people to Iran, including two gay men previously arrested by the regime who face the death penalty for their orientation, and despite the ongoing crackdowns which have killed thousands.

An administration of total inhumanity.
