I knew we were in trouble when a person in tech, only a few months after LLMs were launched publicly, told me with a straight face: «and ChatGPT agreed with me that they were inappropriate».
Nobody wants to know what you and your chatbot talked about

Why am I so against generative AI in games?

Because I simply do not want my initial reaction to art to be one of suspicion and scrutiny, AI slop is fundamentally damaging my relationship to art and artistry, and I am deeply resentful that it is forcing me to be guarded when I should be wowed.

i'm interested in basic research that:

1. shines light on how existing platforms, models, & the industry at large operates

2.uncovers intentionally obscured info/data

3. is adversary to industry but informative to public. verifiable & independent body of knowledge to equip people to demand better

someone asked me literally yesterday if I could use AI for voice acting for Waifu Death Squad since there are so many speaking parts, and my response was "why would I want to do that? Working with actors is the fun part, because they'll surprise you with their line reads or dialogue tweaks."
The thing that strikes me about replacing voice actors with AI slop is that, in the scope of a big AA/AAA production it barely saves money? These people aren't even full time. It's immizerating people because immizerating people is your goal, nothing more.

ICYMI: Microsoft’s charge “implies a more than $12 billion quarterly loss at OpenAI, said Firoz Valliji, an analyst at Bernstein.”

That “would mark one of the largest single-quarter losses for a tech company in history.”
