Sears Tower is the first American skyscraper to join BlueSky. Hey, that sort of has a ring to it!

Look forward to posts about Sears Tower history, facts, and photos as well as views of the beautiful Chicago skyline.

It’s very rare that Instagram ads are even remotely relevant to me, but this Sears Tower lamp was a rare exception.

(The company makes lamps of a lot of cool/iconic skyscrapers.)

Did you know? Sears Tower was originally scheduled to be topped out in September 1972. That timetable obviously fell way behind, since steel erection wasn't completed for an additional 8 months. Construction was likely hindered by the frigid Chicago winters.

On this day in 1973, the final white beam was installed atop the 110-story landmark, signalling a new era for Sears, Roebuck, and Co. and turning the title of world's tallest building over to Chicago. Happy Birthday Sears Tower!
