Frankly absurd. Writer of all sorts of nonsense. Nothing here reflects views of employers, publishers or my terribly embarrassed kids. He/him. #ActuallyAutistic Website: https://scottkandrews.com/

Another run of "Hidden Treasures" on BBC4 Extra this week, every day at 3pm. I'll flag up the rest in a minute, but just look what we've got on Thursday afternoon - from Midweek Theatre, 5th July 1967 - "A Criminal Practice" by Terrance Dicks.

Finally! Was talking to someone recently about how this had been completely memory holed.
There's a welcome repeat of Michael Palin's Number 27 tomorrow night on BBC Four. Madly, this is its first screening since 1988. Newly shot intro by the man himself. www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/m...

I’ve worked at the Southbank Centre for over 8 years now.

In that time I’ve become desensitised to mad conversations that wouldn’t happen anywhere else. But in my first few years I noted down ‘overhead’ snippets that would be ridiculous in any other setting.

I’ve just found those notes. Strap in.

I celebrated Bandcamp Friday by buying the complete discography of The British Stereo Collective - soundtracks for TV shows that never existed. If you're a Radiophonic Workshop fan, this stuff is right up your street. They soundtrack most of my workdays. Treat yourself.
It's BANDCAMP FRIDAY!!!
and there are MEGA-SAVINGS site-wide! (including the FULL digital discography for less than 42 Earth Quids!)

6 emails into my epic attempt to activate my @wired.com sub so I can read it on my laptop & I think I've identified the problem - customer support doesn't understand 'website'. They can't conceive of anyone not using the phone app & ONLY the phone app. It's generational. I'm too old to help.

My dad doesn't really know what a podcast is, but he was interviewed for one last year and it's up now. For anyone interested in songwriting, independent music, and the UK folk scene of the 60s and beyond.

This is an excellent and thorough thread.
In April 1976, in a café at Cambridge railway station, Douglas Adams bought some biscuits. We know this because he told the story so many times that it somehow opened up a wormhole in the space-time continuum, travelling both forwards and backwards and, intriguingly, sideways in time. (1/some...)

Hit him up. You won't regret it. This book fucking rocks.
ALSO, if you want to fall out with me there are ARCs of A NUMBERS GAME by the awful RJ DARK available too. So if gritty-but-funny northern working class crime is your thing then hit up @daturabooks.bsky.social.

Of all the mags that a digital sub would be easy to create, you'd think @Wired.com would be the top. But it's an absolute nightmare of enshittification. 20 mins in & NOTHING about the process works. I've ended up with 2 completely separate customer accounts, NEITHER of which access the sub. ARGH.

Just submitted a spec short story for an anthology. Feeling like a writer. First time in ages. Now just got to finish the book that somehow never finishes itself (despite me begging it to).

3 times recently I've felt profound, overwhelming joy in a cinema:

* the timeslip dance sequence in Sinners
* the dance sequence in Life of Chuck
* the unbelievable sequence at the end of The Bone Temple

All, essentially, musical numbers

Question: WTF aren't studios making proper bloody musicals?
it's for that music segment in the middle, so good i felt my soul rise out of my body
‘SINNERS’ has broken history as the MOST-NOMINATED FILM OF ALL TIME at the Oscars with 16 nominations

I have read this and it is bloody fantastic.
Our sister imprint, the Datura crime list, have some very exiting news. We're not at all sure about this RJ Dark fella though - looks a bit shady to us. Cool cover though...

But if you do want to take a chance and pre-order their books, here's the link:
