If we could convince people that school is for school, we might be able to get somewhere.

I love my union. Every professor should have a union like mine!

Pet peeve: google's grammar checker wants to change the grammatically correct "different than" to the grammatically incorrect "different from."

(There are issues here about LLMs and prescriptive vs descriptive grammar, but who cares about that.)

I love SHORESY, but the current season's sentimentality about hockey culture was totally unearned.

(Stop me now, or I'll start my rant about how 99% of Canadian sitcoms are about telling comforting lies about rural and small town white Canadian identity.)

I much preferred the Lauryn Hill original.
Killing citizens softly going forward
Q: What did you learn from Minneapolis?

Trump: Uhh... I learned that, uhh... maybe we can use a little bit of a softer touch

His stage name is literally a common Quebecois phrase. He's been pretending to be Canadian from the beginning.
I can’t explain it but I think Bon Iver is supposed to be Canadian

I think it was Scott Fitzgerald who said, "A 1000+ word introduction means your ideas don't need tightening up *at all*".

Elderly child-survivors trying to figure out how to hide their caregivers might be the story that breaks me.

Jewish seniors are offering to hide their Haitian caregivers as Trump's TPS end looms - Jewish Telegraphic Agency
"That reminds me of Anne Frank,” said the CEO of one Jewish senior residence reeling as Temporary Protected Status for Haitians is set to end.

Huh.
AI conferences have rushed to restrict the use of LLMs for writing and reviewing research papers in recent months after being flooded with AI-generated slop (Melissa Heikkilä/Financial Times)

PSA: The mono mix of SGT. PEPPER'S really is better than the stereo mix. Listen to the reprise of the title track on the mono mix. The bass drum thumps so hard.

A long, rambling thread on why we're all worse off living in a world without Richard Lewontin.
Worth thinking about why psychology and economics are overrepresented in these networks. Why those disciplines? Why those methods?
Jeffrey Epstein, Peter Thiel, Elon Musk, and Marc Andreessen share an enduring fascination with eugenics, race science, and transhumanism and there is an entire generation of public intellectuals who benefited and continue to benefit from their patronage.

Pinker, Huberman, Attia, Weinstein, etc.

This is brilliant. I'm in awe.
You can test new tech ideas using the Seinfeld Test

Would the product eliminate the plot of an episode? (Google maps, cell phones, paypal, battery packs)

Good tech.

Would the product inspire new Seinfeld plots? (NFTs, AI chatbots, crypto currency, blindboxes, metaverse land sales)

Bad tech.
