it's also galling that nobody cares about lesbian hockey players - there are many, they are out, some are couples who face off in the Olympics! Why isn't there a lesbian equivalent? Straight women won't watch - but imo the bigger reason is that this show fetishizes the closet.

Come to think of it, has anyone ever seen a queer person declare they need to escape into stories where only cishets exist, and how liberating and feminist that is?
my favorite one is the 'by reading/writing stories with no women it allows me to have an escapist fantasy where nobody suffers from misogyny'. noticeably I've never seen a POC say they need to escape into stories where only whites exist, because we are not a pack of morons.
