If found return to Chicago.
I want to know more about how he gave himself mercury poisoning because he exclusively ate gas station sushi during the run of a broadway play.
How much do I have to pay to ask him about that horseshit?

If the left cares as much about the middle class as we say we do, we have to consider this real and true threat to the long term prospects of the middle class.
I confess I do not understand why “the left should prepare for the worst case scenario with AI and jobs” seems to have elicited such a strong negative reaction bsky.app/profile/chri...
I understand why people are exhausted by AI hype, and why those of us squarely in the corner of "human dignity uber alles" see AI doomerism as self-serving hype, but I *really* think people on the left broadly need to start thinking seriously about the possibiltiy of the hype being...true.

When I was a young man I used to imagine that it would be cool and fun if the things I was interested in -- the nature of cognition & consciousness, defenses of ethics & democracy from a secular perspective -- became the subjects of broad public discourse. What the absolute fuck was I thinking.

Ed Zitron is a huckster who comforts us in our priors and will take checks until the day we all get run over by the AI white collar job thresher.
ed zitron is ratioing chris hayes by explicitly arguing to completely ignore whether or not the technology works and what its impact might be, and arguing to instead focus exclusively on how much money is tied up in ai companies

AI externality blindness is our side’s climate change denial.
I'm not even saying that's the most *likely* possibility, but it's just very clear that the likelihood of that outcome as increased and even if there's, like, a 1 in 10 change that "AI replaces most to all white collar jobs in 10 years" that's an *enormous* risk to the social order!

The challenge is that many different issues are packed together, and people pick the ones they want to object to. The economics of data centers could be unsustainable, content generated could be shoddy, IP issues could be untenable, etc. *and* the project to displace workers could still succeed.

The response to Chris’s post shows that there’s a shit-ton of denial built up.
It is clear to me that at least 50% of my current workflow could be automated in the next year. I don’t see how firms justify keeping dinosaurs like me around at my current salary OR hiring young professionals.

Underrated cause for the Tech Right’s trans panic is a number of Gen-X oligarchs hitting late middle age at the same time and simultaneously realizing that while their wealth was increasing on an exponential scale their dickies no work so well.
Pro-trans humanist but anti-transgender is a really funny ideology. We will transcend the boundaries of flesh, be whatever we want to be EXCEPT IN THAT ONE WAY, NONE OF THAT, freeing ourselves from the shackles of our physical husks BUT DON’T TOUCH THE GENITALS.

The funniest thing about these articles is that we KNOW more will come out. The redactions won’t be maintained forever and whistleblowers from the FBI, etc. will come forward with more heinous shit than you can imagine. There’s no bow to put on this.
Last week the far right started peddling a narrative that the outrage over Epstein is a moral panic. Today, like clockwork, a more polite version of that narrative appears in the Atlantic.

The funniest things about this interchange is that (1) Sesame Street taught generations of kids their first Spanish words & (2) because of Maria & Luis, I thought all Spanish speakers were from PR.
It's not even midnight and we're already at "Deport Elmo."

Donald Trump just goes ahead and posts the most vile racist shit, and he doesn't care because he knows he will not suffer a single consequence for it. He doesn't even have the change the name of his administration to The Conners.

The only dignified response from President Obama would be: “I’m going to give the President the benefit of the doubt that he is not fully aware of what he posted, considering that he barely noticed shitting himself in the Oval Office last week.”
if obama wants to give a service to the country, he should do regular comedy skits mocking trump. trump will totally crash out.

And the question is “Mr. President, did you, or did you not, spackle your BVD’s with doo-doo butter? Because we all heard what we heard.”

Seriously, a naked coffin flop would be a gift to the nation’s children.
on one hand I do think that smocking elderly people for losing control of their bodies reveals a pretty ugly lack of empathy, considering that fate awaits us all if we’re lucky. on the other hand Donald Trump deserves no empathy whatsoever so lol lmao he shit himself.

setting aside whether or not trump actually shit himself in that press conference (he did), what do you think the secret service code for the president shitting himself is? i assume it happens often enough with this president that they have one

What do you MEAN the president audibly SHIT himself live on camera and they immediately cancelled the press conference and rushed everyone out of the room like it's a fire drill, and it happened two days ago, and I'm just hearing about it NOW?
