it drives you insane how much erosion of freedom is justified by concern for kids when the people who actually hurt them will never face consequences

In lieu of Discord’s age verification policies, time to make another post about the dangers of online censorship (especially in connection to child trafficking).

Tl;dr: These policies are about surveillance, profit, and data mining…not about ‘saving the children.’

Every broad-scope LLM I've used has been incredibly good at finding inaccurate or completely wrong information about every subject I am knowledgeable in. It's weird. I wonder how it gets the stuff I don't know right so often. I should probably check that, too.

Bad Bunny’s performance began in the plantation, featured broken electric poles, and ended by centering a hemispheric understanding of “América”—among many other things—and some Anglo journalists are like “his performance wasn’t political.”

This is why we need to be telling our stories.

Imagine bringing packaged Mac&Cheese to Italy of all places. Italy!!!

Although, one caveat, we don't know if he, his wife, or one of his kids are on the spectrum and have food issues. In that case? Bring whatever.

When it comes to the AI-content-creators 🤮 I'm wondering how safe are their KDP-accounts?

At what point does Amazon act when reports about bad customer experience pile up. And you only get one account. Content-fams have ways around that but normal people don't. Once the account is gone it's gone.

Reminder that the Luddites were not opposed to technology, they were opposed to technology being used by the wealthy to oppress the poor. They only went after factories where advancing technology was used as an excuse to lower workers' wages. So I'm PROUD to be called a Luddite when it comes to AI.
Amazing.
Amazing. This is the framing

Ah yes, it is authoritarian to say "I am not spending a cent here if this direction remains"

Can't even fucking vote with your wallet huh

When it comes to AI-generated books, people often ask why readers don't generate their own AI-slop instead of buying the books.

Some probably do, but the majority has no idea how to work an AI-thing to generate an actual book. Nor are they interested in learning. Some don't have the times. 1/n

Have you ever tried baking a cake while someone else is looking over your shoulder, questioning your choices of bowls and spoons, and then cleaning up the moment you put something to the side, without asking if you need the bowl/spoon/knife later on? 🤪

Yes? No?

But the cake turned out great.

I just watched Evenet Horizon and had to laugh when it said:

2015 - First permanent colony estavlished on the moon

Oh the future back in 1995. But aside from some outdated tech, the movie still holds up pretty well.

I just adore Laurence Fishburne. And Jason Isaacs looks so young and pretty.

Democratizing the arts looks like universal income, low-barrier grants for both emerging and working artists, well-funded municipal arts & recreation programs, vibrant third spaces, and a well-funded public school system with progressive curriculum.

Not a free pass for corporate-owned slop engines.
Every instance of "AI democratizes the arts, you're classist and ableist and a gatekeeper for trying to stop it" is a slap in the face to the literally centuries of poor, disabled people making art on the margins and a crass lie in service of a machine that strips down and regurgitates dreams
