Am I the only one concerned when a 20-something woman says that she doesn't know how to read an analog clock?

Granted, here in Europe analog clocks are still more common than in the US because a lot of churches + city halls still have them plus they play a role in learning how to drive, but still?

Everyone: We need to save energy.

My neighbors: Chrismas lights!1!!!!!11!

Seriously, they use so much you could turn off the steetlamps close to their house and the street would still be brightly lit and it looks as if they are escalating again?
One of the few things I'll miss.

I actually thought I had shared this on here and I hadn't. But if you want to look at why Tehran has to move it's climate change, yes, but it's genuinely fascinating as a failure of long term planning/ not understanding water supplies.
you'd think the forced displacement of 10 million people from one of the oldest centres of civilisation in human history would get a little more news attention than beltway journalists writing essays on how Olivia Nuzzi is a genius because they want to bone her and you'd be wrong
'Iran’s capital must be moved because the country “no longer has a choice,” President Masoud Pezeshkian said on Thursday in remarks carried by state media, warning that severe ecological strain has made Tehran impossible to sustain'

This is getting ridiculous by now. And dangerous.

Is anyone putting together a list of people who killed themselves after chatting to AI or were encouraged by AI to kill themselves?

I think it's time to take most AI of the market and return to the drawing board because it's obviously not working.

I adore miniminuteman and his efforts as a science/history communicator, fighting the tide of bullshit out there. But he left one important note out of his vid on the "mystery" out the Roanoke colony.

This stormwater pond in Ottawa has ALREADY had 5K goldfish removed from it & the city is like we still gotta remove about 1K, and the local biologist is like, My Dudes, you probably have close to a million in there (most very tiny), because one female can crank out 6K babies a year

Go to the kitchen with empty mug in hand to get some tea. Do something else in the kitchen.

Return to the desk with empty mug in hand.

Yeah, that's me.

Apple: Here, use some AI
Scrivener: I would prefer not to.
Not satisfied with just destroying their own brand goodwill, OS companies are now using AI to try to destroy the good names of the apps users install. (Scrivener taking out adds to explain how it has no AI but Apple adds some anyway.)

I'm already packing some books and stuck when I pull out books that I loved when I first read them decades ago but was more meh on when I reread them recently.

So, keep them or donate? Especially since space in my new place is more limited.

Claire Sharpe gets the "lifted my heart and inspired me today" award. Not a big award but I am grateful and admiring. Hell yeah.
A cycling influencer nominated for a list of top 100 women cyclists said she has declined the honour due to the decision not to include trans women.

Claire Sharpe, a cycling coach from Bristol, said: "If they don't want to ride with all women, then it's not the kind of ride I want to be part of" 👏🏻
