After six amazing years I can reveal that I'll be leaving @runwithzrx.bsky.social at the end of April due to a major restructure. I'm so proud of the work we've done on Zombies, Run! over the years, and on Marvel Move with the support of @agentm.bsky.social

Researchers used archaeological & historical records, topographic maps & satellite imagery to create Itiner-e,a new high-resolution digital dataset & map of the Roman Empire’s roads around 150 AD. It charts 185,896 miles (299,171 km) of roads across almost 1,544,409 square miles (4,000,000 square km)

I made a mistake.

I ordered orange juice and a little thing of vodka. Added a little bit of vodka to the orange. it tasted fine. Added the rest of the vodka.

I have regrets.

(not about the alcohol content, it just doesn't taste good)

perhaps the most egregious thing that happened with the Future Class was when The Game Awards took money from Old Spice in the name of the FC & simply... pocketed it

it wasn't used to fund Future Class initiatives, it wasn't used to help lift marginalised developers

they just profited from us

Something worth noting: Rockstar is leaning HEAVILY on the excuse that the unionising employees were "leaking private company information"

They want people to assume this means game info or assets.

But I will bet you CASH MONEY this translates to:

'they were comparing salaries and work contracts"

Because SE's QA people are probably not in a position to defend themselves and their jobs in public, I want to spell out some of what it is they specifically do for us localizers, because nothing I've written here is rhetorical. SE QA acts as a final check on our work after translation and editing.
You don't need me to tell you this is yet more good money being burned after bad. But as someone who's worked with that QA team, I'll say they're unsung heroes who truly play a huge role in maintaining SE's reputation for high quality locs and to attempt to replace them with AI is deeply insulting.
Square Enix wants 70% of its QA work to be handled by generative AI by the end of 2027, in partnership with the University of Tokyo's Matsuo-Iwasawa Laboratory. https://bit.ly/4qKdyQR
